Huginn and Muninn In Norse myth, Huginn and Muninn are the two raven of the chief god Odin. “Huginn” means “thought” and “Muninn” means “memory”. Each morning Odin sends forth these raven and they fly over the earth. At night, they return and sit on his shoulders to tell him what they heard and saw. The connection between Odin and ravens is very old and deep. Already in the sixth and seventh centuries AD – well before the beginning of the Viking Age in the late eighth century – visual depictions of Odin on helmets and jewelry frequently picture him accompanied by one or more ravens. In the poetry of the Viking Age, Odin was referred to with kennings, and vice versa. A kenning is a common Old Norse literary device that uses images from a body of traditional lore to refer to something, rather than calling it by its everyday name. Odin is called the “raven-god”, the “raven-tempter”, or “the priest of the raven sacrifice”. In the same way, ravens are called “the greedy hawks of Odin”. Also, the sight of ravens immediately following a sacrifice to Odin was taken as a sign that the god had accepted the offering. The ravens are an extension of Odin himself. In fact, he fears they won’t return one day, leading to him losing some of knowledge and power. 8. Ratatotskr Scurrying up and down the Norse tree of life is Ratatoskr, a mischievous squirrel who is also a messenger for the gods. In the tales, he often puts his own spin on the stories he carries up and down the tree. His most regular clients are the wise eagle who sits at the top of Yggdrasil, and the hungry serpent, Nidhoggr, who lies coiled among the tree’s roots. Ratatoskr relishes the chance to carry an insult between these two mighty beasts, and by doing so, he is continually stirring the animosity between them. Tales describe Ratatoskr as a red squirrel. Ancient artists depicted him with extremely long ears, but this could be an artifact of the art style of the time, rather than a meaningful statement about Ratotskr’s physique. In some stories, he wants to destroy the tree of life, so he antagonizes the eagle and the dragon against each other. Because the tree is all that stands between the two foes, they attack the tree to get at each other. Some scholars believe that Ratatoskr may symbolize Rati, a magical drill that the god Odin used on a quest to obtain magical mead, made from the blood of the wisest man who ever lived, out of a fortress inside a mountain. 7. Garm The monstrous hound Garm guards the entrance to Helheim, the Norse realm of the, much like Cerberus in Greek mythology. It has four eyes and a chest drenched with blood, and lives in Gnipa-cave. Anyone who had given bread to the poor could appease him with Hel cake. On the day of Ragnarok, Garm will join the giants in their fight against the gods. The god of war Tyr will it in this cataclysmic battle but will from the wounds inflicted by the hound. Garm is often equated with the wolf Fenrir. 6. Fafnir According to the legends, a dwarf named Fafnir slew his father, Hreithmar, to obtain a vast amount of gold. The gold had been a gift from Odin, who put a curse on it. Full of greed, Fafnir changed into a dragon to guard his treasure and was later slain by the young hero Sigurd. Sigurd was spurred on by another brother of Fafnir, the blacksmith Regin. Once Sigurd, under the advice of Odin, had Fafnir, Regin asked him to cook the dragon’s heart for him. Sigurd touched the heart as it was cooking to test if it was done and burned his thumb. He put his thumb into his mouth and was then able to understand the language of birds. In this tale, knowledge is given to one who eats the heart of a dragon. The birds told Sigurd that it was Regin’s intention to him, so instead Sigurd Regin and left with Fafnir’s treasure. Animals ADOPTING Other Animal Species!

Gorilla and Kittens You might be familiar with Koko the Gorilla because of her famous friendship with actor and comedian Robin Williams. She’s well known for her role in language research and is the subject of many children’s books. Koko is able to communicate through sign language using over 1,000 words and can understand around 2,000 spoken words. She was born in 1971 and has been working with animal psychologist Penny Patterson since she was very young. She surprised everyone when she used her language skills to ask for something surprising: a kitten! Her caretakers, thinking she wouldn’t know the difference, gave her a stuffed kitten. Gorillas are incredibly strong animals and they were worried that Koko would hurt a kitten by accident. However, she did know the difference and signed the word “sad” when they tried to give her the stuffed animal. Like, you know what I’m saying but you are ignoring me! They decided to give it a try and Patterson brought her to a kitten and carefully supervised the interactions. Koko named the kitty “All Ball”. To everyone’s surprise, she showed extreme care when playing with All Ball. She was gentle, loving, and patient. She also tried to use All Ball as a convenient scapegoat. When Koko ripped a sink from the wall, she tried to blame it on the cat! The story about a gorilla asking for a pet kitten broke the news all over the world. One day, though, All Ball escaped Koko’s enclosure and was hit by a car. Her caretakers were forced to break the news and Koko signed “bad”, “cry”, “sad”, and “frown” over and over. Gorillas can’t cry like humans and this was the only way she could express her grief. Over the years, Koko has had several pet cats and continues to raise awareness to save gorillas. 10. Cat and a Squirrel Cats who have recently given birth are known for their strong mothering instinct. That can turn even the most fearsome hunter into a loving parent. Shortly after giving birth to a litter, Emmy the cat found a baby squirrel in her owner’s yard, or her yard, depending on how you want to look at it. Squirrels are usually prey to cats and don’t stand much of a chance. However, perhaps due to a mix of hormones and the baby squirrel’s noises of distress, Emmy decided to adopt the squirrel rather than eat it. Maybe she was just a very nice cat! Emmy’s owner could no longer take care of her and her children. They were passed on to new owners and the strange addition was named “Rocky”. Rocky became so integrated into his new family that he even learned how to purr just like a cat. 9. The Fox and the Hound The Disney version of The Fox and the Hound is one of the saddest movies I’ve ever seen, I couldn’t even watch it as a kid because just thinking about it made me start crying. The good news is that there is a real life version of this story that has a much better ending! A Norwegian photographer named Torgeir Berge owns a German Shepherd named Tinni. One day, the pair were walking through the woods near Berge’s home when they found an orphaned baby fox. Berge allowed Tinny to play with the fox, who Berge named Sniffer. The pair spent the entire day together. When it came time to go, Berge didn’t try to take the fox with him but left him to fend for itself. The fox was old enough to survive on its own and Berge didn’t know hot to take care of a wild fox. Which just as a side not, you shouldn’t take wild animals home with you either... The friendship born on that day remained and when Berge would take Tinni out for walks, Sniffer the fox would come and they would spend hours playing together. Berge took beautiful photos of the friendship in order to raise awareness and denounce the killing of foxes for their fur. 8. Pig and a Lamb Rescued from a factory farm, Edgar Allen Pig lived on a farm sanctuary in Australia. In fact, he’s the namesake of the sanctuary, which is called Edgar’s Mission. The owner of Edgar’s Mission taught Edgar how to walk on a leash so that he could better serve as an ambassador and draw attention to the inhumane treatment of farm animals. Not many people had seen a pig walking on a leash in Australia! It wasn’t long after his arrival that Edgar showed a talent one wouldn’t assign to a pig: he made an excellent foster father. SURPRISING Confessions Made By Disney Employees!

10:03
Check out these surprising confessions made by disney employees! These disneyland and disney world workers shared their top 10 secrets of what's really going on in these theme parks from mickey mouse! Subscribe For New Videos! http://goo.gl/UIzLeB Watch our "Most DISTURBING Secrets About Disney!" video here: https://youtu.be/hQ0FIFYz7P0 Watch our "Most EXPENSIVE Dogs In The World!" video here: https://youtu.be/QjoFQKtTYuA Watch our "Pets That RETURNED Home After Being LOST!" video here: https://youtu.be/JZMkZc-lYGE 10. “Have a Magical Day” Employees at the Disney Parks have to meet and greet countless people every day, but while they have to stay on their best behavior when interacting with guests, not every visitor returns the courtesy. Quite often kids will kick the characters, probably more than you think! Or adults will be incredibly rude. Of course there’s no way for the staff to put you in your place if they want to keep their job, because it is the most magical place on Earth remember, except by using what seems like a friendly phrase that you all know! “Have a Magical Day!” is, in fact, their way of telling you where to go. Yes, that’s right, if a Disney Princess, Pirate or even Mickey Mouse says “Have a Magical Day”- they are, in fact, telling you to “Go F Yourself”. Well, that’s according to some staff who used to work at the resorts at least. They are told to make every guest feel as special as possible, and this phrase is usually the one they resort to when they’re dealing with a particular difficult guest and so they say it in a sarcastic way. It’s all about the tone of voice! Don’t panic if it’s said to you and you’ve been polite though, it could just be that they’ve been having a bad day. 9. The Music Keeps Playing That’s right! The music keeps on playing, even when there aren’t any guests. Anyone who’s visited a Disney resort will know how catchy the music can be- sometimes it takes days for you to clear your head of it all, you know the one! Especially from rides like “It’s a Small World”! Well, take a moment to think about the poor ride operators who sit there listening to the music on continuous loop all day long- and it’s not just while the rides are in operation. The CIA uses music on a repeated loop to torture and break prisoners, and they have said it is very effective! To learn more be sure to check out my Facts About the CIA video!! One of the songs they use? It’s a small world. According to some former employees, the music continues well past the time the last guest has ridden, as they need to continually check and test the experience to ensure it’s living up to the entertainment and safety standards that you’d expect. Even the janitors sweep the place with the full music playing- something that would be taxing even for the most committed of Disney fans! 8. Fired for Taking a Selfie One of the rules of working at Disney is that you must stay in character at all times. This means answering every question in the way that your character would, knowing everything about the movies that they were in, and never shattering the illusion. If you play Mulan and some tourists come up to you and try to speak Chinese- you’d better have a good reason why you aren’t able to speak it back to them. It’s also not a great job for celebrity spotting, because if you see one you can’t go up and talk to them unless they approach you, and you absolutely mustn’t ruin any of the behind the scenes magic. This means taking photos of yourself while getting ready, or backstage in the resort, is completely banned- there have been numerous accounts of staff members who have done this and lost their jobs soon after. If you want a picture of yourself dressed up as Cinderella, you’d be much safer getting a friend to visit the park and getting a snap for you. And it better be in character and not in between! You have to keep the magic real!! 7. Security is EVERYWHERE Just as you’d find with any amusement park, there are prominently placed security staff all around Disney, but what you might not realize is that those visible guards are just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to park security. Which is a good thing in this day in age. Talk about shattering the illusion. There must never be any bad event at Disney ever!! Troy The legend of the Trojan War is One of the most powerful stories from ancient Greek literature and forms the basis of Homer’s The Iliad. Most of us have also probably seen the movie. Ancient troy commanded a strategic point at the southern entrance to the Dardanelles, a narrow strait linking the Black Sea with the Aegean Sea. The approximate Location of Troy was mentioned in several works by ancient Greek and Latin authors but was lost for hundreds of years until in the 1800's when scholars Charles Maclaren and Frank Calvert were able to persuade German archaeologist Heinrich Schliemann to Excavate a mysterious mound know as Hisarlik. Everyone else had ignored Maclaren and Calvert claiming that the legend of Troy was just a story based on myth, not history. Of course, Schliemann took full credit for the discovery once he began uncovering the ancient city. Life lessons guys, always trust your instinct and don't let other people take credit for your hard work. The actual site where the city of Troy was located has About 9 different layers of settlements, towns and cities that could have been the Troy led by King Priam whose son Paris, ran away with Helen, wife of Menelaus, King of Sparta. The first and oldest layer dates back to the Early Bronze Age (around 2000 BCE). Later versions of Troy were destroyed by fire, and others by earthquake and war. Then, it was abandoned and forgotten, until the legend became truth. 5. Pompeii When Pompeii was destroyed by Mount Vesuvius, the City was buried under layers of volcanic rock and ash—frozen in time—until its rediscovery and exploration in the 18th century. Pompeii had a population of between 10,000 to 20,000 people and was famous for its excellent farmland. One of the ironies of volcanoes is that They tend to lure people in because they produce very fertile soil. In the towns below it, most people would not have known that Vesuvius was a volcano or that a Bronze Age settlement in the area had already been annihilated almost 2,000 years before. Vesuvius is actually Inside the exploded skeleton of an older volcano. If you look at an aerial photograph, you can see the remaining ridge of a much larger volcano on the north side. Around 2,000 people were killed in Pompeii from a cloud of scorching gases and thousands of tons of rock and ash that rained down over the city. The powdery ash that buried everyone was so fine that You can even see people's eyelids preserved like a plaster cast. The Emperor Titus declared Pompeii an emergency zone and offered financial assistance for cleanup and recovery. But the buried towns were beyond salvaging. Eventually, Pompeii and Herculaneum were Taken off local maps and forgotten for hundreds of years. Within a few centuries, settlers had repopulated the empty terrain, unconcerned with what lay below. The African plate, on which most of the Mediterranean Sea rests, is actually diving beneath the European plate. Under pressure underground the gases stay dissolved. When the magma rises to the surface it compresses, causing volcanoes to explode. To this day, Vesuvius Remains one of the world’s most dangerous volcanoes; some 3.5 million Italians live in its shadow, and about 2 million tourists visit the ruins each year. Although monitoring devices are in place if there is a major eruption with little warning and the winds are blowing toward Naples there could be another major disaster. 4. Harappa and Mohenjo Daro The discovery of the Indus Valley civilization (aka the Harappan Civilization) in what is now Pakistan was first recorded in the 1800's by the British. The locals also knew about it before then but there was no widespread archaeological excavation until the 1920s. This mysterious culture emerged nearly 4,500 years ago and thrived for a thousand years, profiting from the highly fertile lands of the Indus River floodplain and trade with the civilizations of nearby Mesopotamia. It remains mysterious because Scholars have still not been able to decipher the language, and instead have to guess at their daily life based on the objects that have been found. Mohenjo-daro and Harappa were highly advanced cities of their time, with Remarkably sophisticated civil engineering and urban planning reaching their golden age between 2,600 to 1900 BCE. Harappa had a level of Architectural planning that was unparalleled in the ancient world.

Rottweiler With Vitiligo Usually if you see a rottweiler you’re worried it’s going to bite your head off. Unless you are familiar with them or see these markings. Here’s something you don’t see everyday… a rottweiler that makes you go “awww”! If you’ve never seen a dog with vitiligo before that’s not surprising. The condition only affects 1 out of a hundred puppies. Vitiligo means there’s a lack of pigment being produced in the animal’s skin. The weird thing is we don’t really know why it happens and can only make an educated guess. Scientists believe the root of the problem lies in the immune system. It can caused by a viral infection or an autoimmune disorders. In dogs vitiligo can be found on Rottweilers, German Shepherds, Dachshunds and Old English Sheepdogs. There’s no treatment but don’t worry about this little fella, or should we say big fella! He doesn’t suffer any pain from vitiligo but he can get itchy from it. If you think that sounds uncomfortable than be aware that the condition affects humans too! 9. Venus the Cat Check out Venus. A lot of cats have a major social media presence but this one has a bigger profile than most. She has 1.4 million followers!! And for good reason, she’s two different colors and has very striking markings! The color of her fur is split down the middle like something out of an artist’s imagination, Two-Faced from Batman anyone? Her eyes are also two different colors… one is blue, the other orange! Venus has what’s called “mosaicism” which means her chromosomes aren’t expressing her genes in the regular way. It’s almost like her DNA is trying to show us two cats at the same time! Some think she’s a chimera cat but this has been debunked by scientists. A chimera is an animal made up of two embryos that fuse together very early on creating one organism. Another famous instagram cat is Quimera who has 71,000 followers. Scientists think that these two-faced cats are striking examples of calico cats and it just so happens their colors are divided right down the middle. 8. Strawberry Leopard Leopards are one of nature’s most effective predators. But we can’t help but think this guy’s rep has taken a bit of a dent thanks to his unusual coloring. His coloring doesn’t really help him blend into his surroundings!! The strawberry leopard was spotted… sorry about the joke… in South Africa in 2012. First reported by National Geographic, he’s already good looking enough as it is, but what’s fascinated experts is the pink tinge or hue to his fur. It’s believed he has something called erythrism. Erythrism is what happens when the pigmentation in the skin changes for whatever reason. He either has too much red or too little dark pigment. No-one’s sure which! What is definite is that he is extremely unique. Nothing like this has been captured on camera before. There are drawbacks of course to being the prettiest kitty on the reserve. The strawberry leopard can still camouflage himself but his distinctive markings make him a prime target for human hunters. Let’s hope this amazing creature doesn’t wind up as a trophy over someone’s fireplace! You know how people are... The oxygen levels are nearly negligent, but due to chemosynthesis, At least forty-eight species of wildlife has been stored away for possible millions of years. Many of these animals are unique to this specific cave. The cave is unsafe for humans and most animals. It is completely Void of light and contains toxic gasses that the specialized animals within the cave require to live. Less than 100 people have been allowed in the cave, and to get to the entrance you have to be Lowered 65ft into the ground through a narrow passage. Microbiologist, Rich Boden was one of the first to enter the cave and one of the few to see the lake below, “The pool of warm, sulphidic water stinks of rotting eggs or burnt rubber when you disturb it as hydrogen sulphide is given off.” The animals that live in Movile Cave are Generally born without eyes or skin pigment, due to the fact that they live in the darkness and don’t need sight or camouflage. As for humans, if you go in without a special mask it wouldn’t be long before the lack of oxygen and toxic gasses took their toll. It would Begin with labored breathing and a headache, followed by kidney damage…and the rest, well; no one has ever gotten that far. #9 Lake Vostok Out of over 400 lakes in Antarctica only one can be the largest, and the title goes to Lake Vostok. The lake is at the southern Pole of Cold, beneath Russia's Vostok Station. It resides Far beneath the surface of the central East Antarctic Ice Sheet, which is 11,000ft above sea level. This freshwater lake’s surface is about 13,000ft under the surface of the ice, meaning it would be less than 2000ft below sea level. The lake has Supposedly been untouched for at least 400,000 years, and it wasn’t until 2012 that scientists completed the longest ever ice core that reached 12,400ft and finally pierced through to the surface of the lake. However, as soon as this happened, Water from the lake gushed up the borehole used to extract the water, and mixed with Freon and kerosene that was used to keep the hole from freezing. In 2015, teams tried again and were successful in retrieving a pure sample. Still, Humans have only touched the surface of this lost world and it is believed that new, unseen creatures could dwell in Lake Vostok. The question is…will humans ever reach them? #8 Son Doong Cave Son Doong Cave, or known in Vietnam as Hang Sơn Đoòng is a Solutional cave in Phong Nha-Kẻ Bàng National Park, Vietnam. Son Doong Cave is often called the largest cave in the world. It was discovered by a local man named Hồ Khanh in 1991. People from the area knew about the cave, but the steep descent at the entrance as well as the loud sound of the wind and water rushing through the cave, prevented locals from entering. Of course, everyone thought it was spooky! It wasn’t until 2009 that the cave was shared with the world when British Cave Research Association conducted a survey nearby. Unfortunately, their progress was stopped when they ran into a 200 ft calcite wall known as the Great Wall of Vietnam. In 2013, Some of the largest cave pearls known to man were discovered, some reaching the size of a baseball! Later on, in 2013, the first tourist group explored the cave. The tickets to join this exploration cost a whopping $3,000. Permits are required to access the cave and are given out on a limited basis. Only about 800 are available in 2017 and only through August. During the Fall and Winter months, the water levels are so high that the cave is inaccessible. #7 Sima Humboldt & Sima Martel Cerro Sarisariñama is a Tepui or flattop mountain range in Jaua-Sarisariñama National Park. Located in Venezuela. The name of the mountain is derived from the tale of Ye'kuana Indians who live near the mountain. They tell a Tale about an evil spirit living in caves up in the mountain and devouring human flesh with a sound "Sari... sari...” (Some sort of windy sound effect?) On this mountain there are two mysterious sinkholes known as Sima Humboldt & Sima Martel. The larger of the two is Sima Humboldt is over 1000ft deep and over 1000ft wide. The bottom of each hole has its very own individual ecosystem. It was first descended in 1974 and as of today, is exclusive for scientific researchers.

Headless Gladiators Let's start off with a combat one. In York, England, a large set of skeletal remains were found buried. This isn't too on their own, however, when the remains were fully uncovered, they found that every single person that was buried there was missing their head. 11. Screaming Mummies Sticking with the past in a big way, let's talk about mummies. They're a well-documented part of archaeology, and some of the biggest discoveries in history have been finding mummies and their crypts and tombs and discovering who they were and what they did. 10. Shackled Bodies History is written by the victors, and because of that, the "dirty little secrets" of societies and their rulers have to be dug up and found. One such secret of the ancient Greeks was found in 2016 in Athens. They were trying to dig up ground to make some new buildings. 9. Pit Speaking of unanswered questions, this pit raises plenty more of them. In France, another construction project led to the discovery of something heinous and foul. A literal pit that was over six feet deep and five feet wide. But it’s not called the pit for nothing. Inside the pit were numerous bodies. 8. Vampire Burials Fear is a powerful thing. It can lead people to do things they would never do of their own rational mind. And it can cause them to fear things that are truly irrational. The fear of vampires were a real thing for a long time in the ancient world, and the thought that the could rise again and come for blood made many take "precautions" in order to protect themselves. 7. The Moa Under The Mountain Exploration is key in finding archaeological artifacts, but sometimes even the most hardened of archaeologists can't predict everything they would find. And this particular one is one for the history books. 6. Altamura Man While certain finds can be scary, they can also be fascinating in the historical sense, and one such grand case is the Altamura Man. A cave scientist (yeah, that's a thing, I looked it up) was in Altamura, Italy doing some work, and while examining a particular structure, he turned to find a skeleton looking at him through the rock. 5. Skulls No, that’s right, "Not souls", "skulls". In Sweden, in 2009, some archaeologists were excavating a dried up lake bed. Near the bottom of the lake they found a sealed structure, that's already pretty terrifying, but trust me, it gets worse. Within that stone structure were a set of 11 skulls. 4. The Sewer Of Babies The ancient world did a lot of great and wondrous things. But, it also did a lot of terrible things, including facilitating the of many young babies. Yet, one of the most disturbing finds ever might just be a sewer full of them. 3. Family Betrayal Sometimes the truly terrifying things we find aren't the remains of people, but the stories they leave behind. Yan Shiwei was a prominent member of Chinese society during his time and he loyally served the first female Emperor in Chinese history. 2. Neanderthals The act of a humanoid eating another humanoid. It was once widely felt to be a tribal act, rooted in specific groups of people. Yet, Archaeology has taught us differently. This act goes all the way back to the Neanderthals. 1. Whistles If you recognized this sound earlier, then you know it comes from an Aztec Whistle!! This was discovered when digging up an Aztec grave, where the man, was holding onto the Whistle! But back in 2014, a Goat was born with eight legs on a farm in northeast Croatia. The owner’s name is Zoran Paparic, whose mother goat named Sarka, gave birth to this ‘octogoat.’ It is Believed that this goat merged with its twin while in the womb, one was a boy and another a girl, so the goat not only has eight legs, but both male and female reproductive organs. The Siamese goats had two healthy siblings that were born the same night. When the owner saw the octogoat, he said, “I counted his legs and I thought I was seeing things. Then I called my neighbor to make sure that I am not crazy.” The media hasn’t followed up with Zoran, so we do not know if the kid survived or not. Vets predicted that he would not live long due to his deformity. That he would either be Too weak to live or the mother would reject him. But, we are still unsure, so all we can do is hope that the adorable little octogoat has found a way to live life with eight legs. #8 Froggy Ten years before octogoat was born, an interesting frog known as “Froggy” made his debut. Froggy is a three-headed, six-legged mutant frog was discovered in the garden of the seaside resort's Green Umbrella nursery. The kids were amazed when a staff member presented him to the class, ages three to four, and decided to name him Froggy. Of course! What else were they going to call him! They only had the frog for one day before he escaped, but within that time he attracted children and parents of all kinds. It is believed the Mutation was caused by a genetic defect or pollution of the waters he was born in. Many even shun the idea that it was a real thing, believing that it was simply three frogs stacked on top of each other. Still, The mutation pictured is very extreme and very unusual; it’s a shame that scientists couldn’t get ahold of it before he hopped away. But then, again, there would have been some very disappointed children if that were the case. Children and adults alike are still asking questions such as “How does it eat?” and “How many organs does it have?” but unfortunately it looks like we’ll never know. Nor will we know if the staff misinterpreted this frog and it really was three very close amphibians! #7 We This mutant may be the scariest of them all! Its name is “We,” and it is a two-headed albino snake. The snake joined those at the World Aquarium in St. Louis in 1999 when he was no bigger than a pencil. They paid $15,000, even though they knew that mutated animals such as “We” rarely live long. But it looks like their high hopes paid off, The snake lived to be 8-years-old and became the main attraction at the World Aquarium. We, at five feet long, died in 2007 of natural causes. People from all around mourned the loss, for it was a Daily occurrence for people to walk in and ask to see “We” The only thing to see now is a taxidermist-prepared body of the snake. Not quite the same thing... Children especially liked to see We attempt to move in different directions, because since it had two heads and 2 brains there was a struggle for which side could make the decisions! Could you imagine having an argument with yourself? That just sounds like a lose-lose situation… We had both male and female reproductive organs, but despite the aquarium’s attempts, it could not be bred. It’s gender confusion was the reason for its name as it didn’t feel right calling We a he or a she…since it was both! We appeared on shows such as "Live with Regis and Kelly" and attracted over a million visitors in his lifetime. #6 “Flying” Cat So, maybe cats can’t fly, but there have been Multiple instances in which they were born with real wings! There are three different likely causes of wing-like appendages in cats. Of course, Matted fur is one, when the fur binds together and sticks up, but this is not really a mutation. The second cause is a condition called feline cutaneous asthenia. It can occur on the shoulders, haunches, or back. The cats can move these growths just like a bird can move its wings. Weird huh? The third cause is a mutation of supernumerary limbs. These growths are non-functioning and often resemble wings. Whatever the cause, over the years, More than 138 cats have been reported to have wings. There are over 30 documented cases, 20 photographs, and one video.

Agee the Polar Bear Most species of bear can be incredibly dangerous, so what would it take for you to spend a night sleeping in the same bed as one? Well, that’s what Mark Dumas, from British Columbia, does quite regularly, and his bear of choice is the most dangerous of all- an 840 pound polar bear. 9. Pikin the Gorilla Primates are the closest animals in the world to humans, so it’s perhaps no surprise that there are a number of stories of incredibly close bonds between our species. This image, the winner of 2017’s wildlife photographer of the year award, shows just how amazing this friendship can be. 8. Dindim the Penguin You’ve probably heard tale of birds forming bonds with humans- often because they attach to the first thing they see once they hatch- but this next story shows how intense and integral this bond can become. 7. Chamroeun the Python When you were a child, what pet did you wish for?? I wanted I giant panda but no luck! If you were lucky, maybe you did get your wish but I’m not sure how many of you were allowed to have a potentially dangerous animal that was many times bigger than you!! 6. Humpback Whale As anyone who has been diving will know, one of the most frightening sights you can see when you’re underwater is the distinctive shape of a shark. Even if it’s what you’re there to see, there’s a certain instinctive respect towards the ocean’s top predators. 5. Rambo the Alligator When you think about the ideal pets to have around the house, ones with rows of sharp teeth probably wouldn’t be on the top of your list. Mary Thorn, from Florida, doesn’t see it as a problem, though, and even had to plead a case to the authorities to allow her to keep her pet of 10 years, an almost 6 foot long alligator. 4. The Port Jackson Shark Rick Anderson is an Australian diver who regularly swims in the waters off the southern coast. He strongly believes that sharks are friendly creatures, and it was while showing this to a group of students a few years ago, that he developed a strong bond with a Port Jackson shark. It was still very young, and he approached it and tickled it before giving it a cuddle. 3. Kham Lha the Elephant The Save Elephant Foundation in Chiang Mai, Thailand was set up to help protect the endangered creatures from environmental pressures and, more importantly, from illegal poachers. The volunteers work closely with the elephants year round, and the bonds they develop with them are incredible. 2. Mulan the Tigress In 2007, Abdullah Sholeh, from Indonesia, took on a job that isn’t for the faint hearted- he became a nanny for a 3 month old tiger cub. Named “Mulan Jamillah”, the Bengal tigress was donated to a school in Malang soon after her birth because her previous owner couldn’t take care of her. 1. Jessica the Hippo Jessica the hippo is famous around the world as being one of the only hippos to be kept in captivity without being contained in an enclosure. Many would argue that hippos are one of the most dangerous animals in the world because of their size, strength, and aggressive nature, but Jessica is often hailed as proof that they can live a more calm existence. Titanoboa You may not have heard of Cerrejon, Colombia but if you are interested in fossils, this is the place to be!! It has some of the world’s richest, most important fossil deposits. It might just be the only window into an ancient tropical ecosystem. 7. Pterodactyls One of the most famous flying creatures of the ancient world were the Pterodactyls but they often get confused with pterosaurs. Yet ironically, despite popular belief, they weren't actually dinosaurs, they just happened to live in similar time periods. So of course, they had to be included in Jurassic Park films! Granted, they weren't as big as in those films, they were actually the size of big birds like eagles, but they were still a threat no doubt. 6. Megalania In the Australia during the Ice Age, there was an Apex Predator so feared that it became a part of the legends of the land. The Megalania was a monitor lizard, estimated to be about 23 feet long, even bigger than a crocodile! 5. Utahraptor The name Velociraptor is synonymous with the Jurassic Park films, as they were one of the main "villains" in virtually every movie. But the fact of the matter is...they were about the size of chickens, and might have even had feathers in real life. However, there WERE raptors that were big and dangerous, and could easily raise havoc in the world if they were still alive today, for example the Utahraptor. 4. Short-Faced Bear This bear was one of the fiercest predators to inhabit North America. It lived about 1-2 million years ago and is estimated to have gone extinct about 11,000 years ago. This wasn't just a bear, it was a gigantic bear. When standing on all 4 feet it was about as tall as as a human, about 6 feet tall. 3. Tyrannosaurus Rex The Tyrannosaurus Rex is no doubt one of the most popular and legendary dinosaurs ever discovered. And while the T-Rex may not have been the largest dinosaur around, it was still a terror, and there's a reason many movies and TV shows have made sure to include the T-Rex when they go back to that time period. 2. Saber-Tooth Cats In our world today, we have cheetahs, lions, tigers, panthers, and other "big cats", but not a single one of them compare to the Ice Age wonder that was the Saber-Tooth Tiger. 1. Megalodon Of course I have to include The Megalodon! I know it’s been on all of our minds lately since Discovery’s Shark Week and the new movie The Meg!! If the Megalodon were still alive today, the world would be in trouble. This massive shark was one of the biggest terrors the oceans of the world have ever known. It was THE Apex Predator of the ancient waters, and for good reason. LIONS SAVE KIDNAPPED SCHOOLGIRL In rural southwestern Ethiopia in June 2005, a twelve-year-old girl was kidnapped by seven men while on her way home from school. The men were attempting to force her into a marriage she did not want and was obviously too young for. The girl’s captors held her in a hut and attempted to relocate her a week later as they evaded the police, but to their surprise they were chased away from the girl by three lions. 8. DEER CHASES ATTACKER AWAY In February 2012, an Oxford, Ohio woman was attacked and dragged behind a building after leaving a party. The assailant, who seemed intent on robbing the woman, tried choking her with her purse straps. 7. BEAVER COMFORTS ORPHANED BOY A young boy from Ontario, Canada named Rheal Guindon was camping with his parents when they decided to go fishing. Rheal stayed behind on the shore while his mom and dad headed out on a boat. Within minutes of their departure, the boat Rheal’s parents were using tipped and sank. Rheal helplessly watched from land as they drowned. 6. GORILLA SAVES 3-YEAR-OLD BOY In August 1996, one parent’s worst nightmare came true when their three-year-old tumbled into a gorilla exhibit at the Brookfield Zoo in Illinois. As the boy lied on the concrete below, surrounded by some seven gorillas, zoo visitors panicked and cried out for help. 5. DOLPHINS SAVE LIFEGUARDS FROM SHARKS In 2004, lifeguard Rob Howes and three teenage lifeguards, including his daughter, decided to take a swim at Ocean Beach near Whangarei, New Zealand. Suddenly, they were encircled by seven bottlenose dolphins. A dolphin followed Howes and one of the lifeguards as they drifted from the rest of the group. 4. WHALE SAVES WOMAN FROM SHARK Nan Hauser was swimming off the Cook Islands in October 2017 when a humpback whale seemingly randomly appeared nearby. The whale repeatedly bumped into the woman with its head and belly and attempted to carry her on its belly, back, and head. It also tried to put Nan under its pectoral fin several times. 3. BEAR SAVES MAN FROM MOUNTAIN LION In 2012, a 69-year-old northern California man named Robert Biggs was attacked by a mountain lion while hiking. During one of his many gold-panning and hiking trips to Whiskey Flats, he encountered a mother bear, her yearling, and her cub on a stream bank. 2. DOLPHINS SAVE FISHERMAN In 2002, a 36-year-old Australian fisherman named Grant Dickson was sailing off the coast of Queensland when his fishing boat sank. The boat went down in rough waters near Dunk Island after its nets got caught on seaweed. 1. ELEPHANT SAVES GIRL FROM TSUNAMI When the tragic 2004 tsunami struck Thailand, eight-year-old Amber Mason was riding a four-year-old elephant named Ningnong at a resort in Phuket. The water quickly rose to Ningnon’s shoulders as he dashed away from the water and to higher ground, carrying little Amber to safety on his back. Urban Legends That Turned Out To Be TRUE!

Eaten By Pigs Ever heard the saying “we’ll feed you to the pigs”. Well, this isn’t just a vernacular convention, but a phrase that’s based in real fact. A while back, in 2012, a veteran who was suffering from stress disorder was looking for a way to cope with what he had seen. In the end, the man turned to raising pigs as a therapeutic exercise. The man’s family said that the pigs had really changed his life for the better. Unfortunately, the pigs would also be the cause of the man’s demise, in the end. One day, the veteran went out to feed his livestock. What happened next is still being debated today, as there was no body to do an autopsy on to discern the cause. It’s speculated that a heart attack caused the veteran to fall into the pig pen, or that some other outside influence made him faint or something. Whatever caused him to fall, in the end, over 99% of his body was consumed by the very same animals that he had come to love. Pigs are more vicious than you think! 8. Wedgie A good many of us did a lot of questionably intelligent things when we were young. TP-ing the neighbor's house on halloween, giving innocent freshmen in our High Schools a hard time, or picking on our little sibling just because we could -- the list really just goes on from there. There’s a myth that’s been floating around a good many years, though, that many might think is just a cautionary tale, dreamed up by parents, and told to their kids to prevent them from picking on anyone who couldn’t fight back. To be fair, the idea that an atomic wedgie really does sound pretty darn far-fetched. The truth is even more odd. It turns out that there is a reported case of a wedgie a man -- again, a man, not a child as the legend falsely goes. A few years ago, a 34-year old man got in an argument with his stepfather of almost 60 years of age. So what did the grown man do to retaliate against his father? Well, he gave him an atomic wedgie to rival them all. Unfortunately, both of the men were likely drunk, based upon what the police who reported the case have said, and the stepfather’s throat became ensnared by the waistband of his underwear after which the aging man was strangled by his own drawers. Quite an embarrassing way to go, but it’s true. 7. Body Under Mattress Legend goes that a couple checks into a run-down, creepy hotel. Ok, maybe not creepy, maybe just a motel 6 or something. Everything’s going fine, until they detect a peculiar smell wafting up from under the place that they’re supposed to be sleeping, their rented bed. The couple decides to investigate, sometimes it's the wife or girlfriend that checks under the bed and sometimes it's the man, but in either case what they find is always the same: a cold and rotting body. This sounds like something that would be told around a raging campfire with s'mores leaking all over the listener’s hands. However, there are a actually more than a few reported cases of bodies actually being found under motel and hotel beds. For example, Richard Kuklinski was a who poisoned a man, before him with the cord of a lamp. After this he stuffed his victim’s body into the bed frame of a motel room in New Jersey. There are other cases of this happening too -- so be careful where you check in for the night. 6. Very Real Halloween Decorations Halloween is a time of tricks, treats, and -- for some -- practical jokes. Sometimes, though, the joke can go a bit too far. There is an urban myth that a man or sometimes a teenager, performs a fake hanging trick to scare their friends. Or whoever. Then something goes wrong and they accidentally hang themselves. Since everyone thinks it’s a trick, no one saves them. In New Jersey, a teenager named Bryan Jewell just like this. In the state of North Carolina, a 15-year-old accidentally hanged himself while performing at a gallows act during a Halloween party. I get scared easily so I stay away from these kinds of things! I’ve never even heard of this kind of party... City of the Jaguar In Honduras in early 2016, archaeologists began excavating the ruins of an ancient unknown civilization that was discovered the year before during a National Geographic expedition. 7. Mahendraparvata In 2013 in Cambodia, archaeologists uncovered the 1,200-year-old remains of a lost city called Mahendra-parvata. The city was found using lidar, the same airborne laser technology that was used to find the City of the Jaguar. Before putting lidar to use, years of ground research by archaeologists had lent credibility to the theory that the Khmer Empire extended beyond well-known temples. 6. Rhapta During a helicopter flight over Tanzania’s Mafia Island off the southeast African coast in 2016, scuba diver Alan Sutton spotted the submerged remains of the ancient city of Rhapta. He had been searching for the ruins of the harbor city for three years. Archaeologists from Dar es Salaam University confirmed the findings, which consist of building foundations made from thousands of square and oblong blocks. 5. Lost Fortress of Genghis Khan In 2001, an old, abandoned fort was discovered in southwestern Mongolia, 550 miles away from the nation’s capital of Ulan Bator, by a team of Japanese and Mongolian archaeologists. They were looking for Genghis Khan’s final resting place, but instead happened upon another one of the former ruler’s properties. 4. Tenea Greece’s cultural ministry announced in November 2018 the discovery of the ancient lost city of Tenea! Researchers had long known about the city, which has been mentioned in several ancient texts and had finally excavated enough artifacts that gave clues about Tenea’s existence and whereabouts. The city’s “urban fabric,” including door openings, roads, walls, tombs, and floors, was finally uncovered in the southern region of Peloponnese. 3. Angamuco Thanks yet again to lidar technology, the true scale of Angamuco, a lost city located in modern-day western Mexico, was revealed in early 2018. It was first discovered in 2007, and archaeologists attempted to conduct a ground exploration of the city. However, due to the area’s rugged terrain, it would have taken a decade to investigate thoroughly without the use of lidar. 2. Etzanoa In August 2018 in Arkansas City, Kansas, archaeologists announced the discovery of evidence of a city called Etzanoa. The city was first described during the 16th century by Spanish conquistadors and is the second-oldest known Native American settlement. The site curves around the bend of a river northeast of Arkansas City and extends for ten miles. 1. Kweneng Earlier this year, a lidar screening revealed the extent of the ruins of an ancient city in Africa known as Kweneng, located in the Suiker-bosrand hills near present-day Johannesburg. The city was occupied by Tswana-speakers from the 15th century until the mid-1800’s, and was one of several such settlements that existed in northern South Africa prior to encounters with Europeans in the early 19th century. Eric thought it was a rock but his cousin, Andrew, immediately recognized it as an animal bone. 4. Meteorites The chances of you finding a piece of meteorite in your backyard is pretty small, let alone a meteorite hitting your house six times in a row. But that is exactly what happened to Radivoke Lajic, a Serbian man living in a little village in northern Bosnia. It looks like the man´s property, for some reason, attracts space rocks! 2. Whale Fossil In 1978, 17-year-old Gary Johnson from Palos Verde, California noticed a large rock sticking out of a hill between his house and a neighbor’s. It appeared to have a bone pattern. Thinking it could be an important find, Johnson called in an expert to evaluate it. I don’t know what kind of expert he was but anyway, he said it had no value. 1. He had a cauldron of plenty and two pigs that he used to help feed people, but his most famed possession was his club. 2. The Peaches of Immortality Said to have grown in the garden of a Chinese goddess, the peaches of immortality, quite predictably, grant those fortunate enough to eat them with never-ending life. They are mentioned in Taoist mythology and are so special that they would only ripen after a very long time, at which point they were served at a banquet for the immortals. 1. Spreepark, Berlin This place was first opened in 1969 under the name of Kulturpark Plänterwald, in what was then East Berlin. It was quite an attraction because, for years, it was the only amusement park in East Germany. 8. L’Aquatic Paradis, Spain This water park was built in Sitges near the city of Barcelona but, unfortunately, it didn’t stay open for long. Lake Dolores, USA This waterpark was the first ever in the United States. It used to be a popular desert attraction but now it is abandoned in the middle of the Mojave Desert, California. Dunaújváros Vidámpark, Hungary This Hungarian park was very popular back in the day – the beginnings of this park go back to the 19th century! While it was severely damaged during WWII, in the 60s and 70s, the place was booming because so many people wanted to go! People used to come mostly in the evenings to cool off and enjoy every one’s company, especially since there was no TV! 2. Takakanonuma Greenland, Japan Don’t let the name confuse you- this place is not in Greenland, but Japan! This amusement park was opened back in 1973, but it was closed only two years later. The religious order of warrior monks was now seen as A threat due to their wealth and political power. In 1302 the Knights Templar were accused of heresy by King Phillip IV of France and later were officially ordered to disband by Pope Clement V. On Friday October 13, 1307 French Templar Knights were arrested. Our modern-day unlucky Friday 13th is related to this event. The Knights who survived went underground taking many treasures and religious relics with them. Legend has it that Many escaped to Scotland with their riches. Templar sympathizers supposedly helped hide the Knights’ treasures under a chapel until the New World was discovered. Descendants of the Templar fled to Nova Scotia in Canada, Leaving marks on old maps and gravestones giving credit to this legend. There is a theory that the Knight Templar buried their treasure in a pit discovered in Canada. In 1795, Daniel McGinnis discovered this pit and started digging. He and his friends began hitting wooden planks every 10 feet and the The Money Pit has drawn many treasure seekers over the years. People have found layers of logs, charcoal, coconut fiber and putty. Among the biggest discoveries were A set of stone inscriptions found 90 feet below. Symbols on the stones were translated as “forty feet below lie two million pounds.” The pit floods as excavations get deeper so Nobody really knows what’s actually at the bottom. Whether this pit is actually related to the Knights Templar remains a mystery, but you are welcome to go and find out! Even if it isn't rumors are that the pit holds pirate treasure, Marie Antoinette's Jewels and maybe even the Arc of the Covenant. When he was 9 years old, Fenn found an arrowhead near his family’s home in Texas, triggering a life-long passion for historical artifacts. Fenn is now An 85-year-old millionaire, treasure hunter, and art dealer in Santa Fe, New Mexico. (Not really new, not really Mexico). In 1988 Fenn was diagnosed with kidney problems and thought he only had about year to live. 20 years later he had beaten the disease and completed his plan of hiding a treasure chest somewhere in the Sangre de Cristo mountains. No one knows for sure how he became a millionaire and He has even been investigated by the FBI. His reputation in the archaeological world is not exactly pristine and he has been accused of being a looter and grave robber. In 2010 he self-published a book: The Thrill of the Chase which contains clues and a poem directing treasure hunters to his estimated $1 to $3 million worth of historical artifacts. The chest dates back to the year 1150 and is said to contain pre-Columbian gold, Chinese jade carvings, and a 17th-century Spanish ring with emeralds, rubies, and diamonds. His Goal is to leave a legacy and get people to enjoy the outdoors while searching for the treasure. Many argue that the treasure is not, in fact, real, suggesting that it is simply a way to push sales of his memoir. However the rights belong to the Collected Works Bookstore in Santa Fe and half of the profits go to a charity. Hundreds of people have contacted Fenn begging for more clues but his lips are sealed! It sounds like if you’ve got a free summer, Forrest Fenn’s treasure might well be worth the hunt! Be sure to read his poem with clues to the treasure and let us know if you find anything! In 1712 Spain began to assemble one of the richest treasure fleets with ships filled with silver, gold, pearls, and jewels worth about $2 billion by today's standards. By 1715, 11 ships were ready to depart from Cuba to Spain right before hurricane season to deter pirates and privateers. This turned out to be a huge mistake and all were sunk near Vero Beach, Florida just a week into the voyage. Over 1,000 sailors didn't make it and it took the Spanish Almost 4 years to recover half the treasure that was initially lost.

The City Of Z Sometimes, a legend grows not just because of people spreading it around, but because of those who have been lost trying to prove it!! Like Colonel Percy Fawcett, and the legend of the City Of Z. While the Conquistadors were the first to truly try and search for ancient lost cities in the jungles of South America, one of the more recent explorations for a lost city occurred in 1925. 4. Aztlan If history has taught us anything, it's that where you start is just as important as where you end up. Which makes the Aztec people one of the biggest mysteries history has to offer. During their prime, the Aztec Empire was one of the most powerful empires that the world has ever seen. But, history is baffled in one singular aspect...they don't know where the Aztecs came from. History proves that they were from Mexico, where they dominated for a long time, but originally they migrated there. 3. The Hanging Gardens Of Babylon The Hanging Gardens of Babylon are one of the seven wonders of the ancient world. However, here's the twist, it hasn’t ever actually been found. So if it's never been truly found, why is it such a noted piece of history? Well, this all started with a document written by Berossus of Babylon. Who noted that in the time of 600 B.C., King Nebuchadnezzar II had the Hanging Gardens built in honor of his wife, Amytis. 2. El Dorado The nickname for this legendary city was, "The City Of Gold". This city has been lost in history for centuries, and there have been many, many searches for this place. But how did the legend begin? Well, it all started in the 16th century, when explorers from Europe heard about the "New World" and decided to try and find more of it, and take it for themselves... 1. Atlantis Hands down, the greatest, and longest-reigning legend of a city that is rumored to be out there, yet still has not been found...is Atlantis. It is interesting to note that Atlantis has become a key part of our world’s culture. We talk about Atlantis even though we can't actually confirm that it was a real place. However, many people think it was, and are searching the oceans, and even dried up deserts to this day. Gold Found in 1500 Year-Old-Tragedy In 2010, partially buried bodies from 1,500 years ago began appearing at a site called Sandby Borg on the island of Öland in Sweden. Since then, archaeologists have been trying to figure out what happened here, and have made some surprising discoveries. The massacre that took place was so large that it’s impossible to know for sure how many people lost their lives- estimates place the number in the high hundreds, and it wasn’t a pleasant death. They appeared to have been murdered in as humiliating a way as possible. Some bodies were found with goat or sheep teeth stuffed in their mouths, and others were clearly killed while trying to escape. Interestingly, though, a number of coins and treasures have been found at the site that have helped identify the time at which it happened and what the society was like. A Roman coin, dated between 425 and 455 AD shows that the empire had been in contact with the residents of the island, and other things like silver broaches, bells, gold rings and beads have been uncovered. This is quite unusual, as normally these sites would have been plundered for all valuables. It seems that following whatever event happened here, the area was feared and became taboo for anyone to touch- with even the livestock being left to die while they were tied up to posts. 7. Las Bolas, Costa Rica The Diquis Spheres, or Las Bolas as they are known locally, are stone balls that have been mysteriously found in Costa Rica since the 1930’s. After the discovery of the first, over 300 have been documented in sizes ranging from a few centimeters to over two meters. Most of them have been carved from an igneous stone called granodiorite. The heaviest weighs over 16 tons! While there are no carvings on the spheres, they are clearly man-made as the shapes aren’t formed naturally, and some have chisel marks in them from where they had been worked on. All of the stones were buried underground, and are often found during excavation works or the preparation of fields for agricultural purposes. No one’s certain what they were for or what they represent, but if you ever visit Costa Rica you’ll see them decorating buildings like schools, hospitals and the Assembly Building. 6. Old Stone Inscription In 1878, locals in a small town called Beyköy in Turkey found pieces of a strange stone in the ground. They removed them, and realized that they were all part of a larger artefact, a 29-meter long hieroglyphic inscription in a virtually lost language called Luwian. No one at the time understood the meaning of the symbols, so the stones were used to build the foundations of a mosque, which meant they were totally destroyed. Luckily, though, the French archaeologist Georges Perrot, was able to copy the inscription before it was lost forever. Still, the Luwian language wasn’t deciphered until the 1950’s, so his copies were left in storage and were forgotten about. This changed in 2012 when the noted archaeologist, James Mellaart, died, and his possessions were being organized. Within the volumes of pages were copies of the versions that George Perrot had made, and translators went to work. It turns out that the inscriptions from the 3,200 year old stone spoke about the travels and exploits of Prince Muskus of Troy. It detailed an expedition he led on behalf of his people to conquer Ashkelon, in modern day Israel, and build a fortress to control the land. There were also stories of the in fighting between different leaders of Troy and the surrounding areas, and how life at the time was tough, with new claims to the throne constantly vying for power. The translations of the tablets have given a valuable insight into events of the time, and helped us to further understand the ancient civilization. 5. Blackbeard’s Ship Edward Teach was one of the most feared pirates during the golden age of piracy in the Caribbean, striking terror in the minds of the merchant sailors who operated in the area. One of the reasons for this was his ship, the Queen Anne’s Revenge, which was a frigate that he had captured from the French and turned into his flagship. At 200 tons, it towered above the waves in a way that no other pirate ship did. Mutilated Great White Sharks During a 3 day period in May of 2017, four of the world’s most fearsome predators washed up on the beaches of South Africa’s Western Cape province. The following month, another Great White Shark was found… and each of them was mutilated in a similar way. They were all missing chunks out of their bodies as well as their livers, which had been ripped out, and there were other signs of mutilations- such as missing stomachs and testes. 9. Palm Oil In 2017, 13 beaches in Hong Kong had to be closed because of disgusting deposits that began to be washed ashore. The Styrofoam-like clumps were soon discovered to be made up of palm oil, which had been released into the ocean during the collision of two ships in the Pearl River estuary. 8. Ice Balls In 2013, residents around Lake Michigan found hundreds of giant ice balls along the shoreline. Each of them weighed as much as 50 pounds and, surprisingly, they’re actually quite common. They occur during the winter, as a result of a weather phenomenon that sees a combination of wind and wave action against the shore. 7. 200 Million-Year-Old Fossil Storms are often responsible for churning up all kinds of material from the sea and depositing it on the beach. In 2014, a beachcomber on the Jurassic Coast, in the English county of Dorset, made an incredible discovery. Embedded in the rocks, he found the skeleton of a five-foot long, toothy animal that resembled a dolphin- but actually turned out to be a 200 million-year-old Ichthyosaur. 6. Deep Sea Fish In 2015, two co-workers were walking along the beach on Catalina Island in California, when they came across a strange 13.5-foot long carcass. It was unlike anything they had seen before and is something rarely seen by most people- as it was a deep sea oarfish that usually lives at depths of between 660 and 3000 feet. 5. Sea Pickles It may not be the greatest surprise to hear that weird things have washed up on the beaches of Oregon, but the waters are full of peculiar jelly-like translucent creatures that look like slugs. They first began appearing in 2015, but by 2017 there were millions in the region, with many of them washing up on the shoreline. 4. Cannonballs In Charleston, South Carolina, live cannonballs from the Revolutionary and Civil wars are often found around the city… and wash up on the shores. Most of them are inactive lumps of metal, but others still have the ability to explode. They're most commonly found during construction projects, but following Hurricane Matthew in 2016, 15 civil war cannonballs washed ashore on Folly Beach. 3. E.T In 2011, 76-year-old Margaret Wells of Cosham, in England, was devastated when her home was robbed. They took all of her jewelry, an iron, and her beloved life-sized E.T figure that her daughter had made for her. She thought she'd never see it again, but was surprised in early 2012 when she received a call from police to tell her that they had found it!! 2. Giant Sea Monster The communities living on Seram island in Indonesia rely on the sea for their livelihoods and probably have seen virtually everything that it has to offer. In 2017, though, something washed up on the shore of Hulung beach that made them all realize that there were mysterious things in the depths. 1. Whiskey Galore It’s not often that something great washes ashore but, in 1941, residents of the Outer Hebrides in Scotland were in for a treat. On the morning of February 5th, the SS Politician was passing by- having left Liverpool, England, on its way to Kingston, Jamaica, and New Orleans. Most MYSTERIOUS Things Found In The Jungle!

Check out the most mysterious things found in the jungle! This top 10 list of strange and bizarre findings discovered in the jungle is a strange mystery to date! Subscribe For New Videos! http://goo.gl/UIzLeB Watch our "6 LOST Cities Around The World!" video here: https://youtu.be/0Jx6OToOXos Watch our "Most MYSTERIOUS Books In The World!" video here: https://youtu.be/2wNDmQKqkdE Watch our "Most MYSTERIOUS Lost Worlds On Earth!" video here: https://youtu.be/oX1rLjFYseA 8. The Lost City of Giants Deep in the Ecuadorian jungle, explorers discovered a lost city in 2012. However, it certainly wasn’t any normal ancient city. It is known as the “Lost City of Giants.” According to reports, upon arrival, the explorers found a set of massive structures, the largest being a 79-meter-tall by 79-meter-wide (260 ft x 260 ft) pyramid of unusual shape. At the top of the pyramid is a flat, polished stone, believed to have been a sacrificial altar. The magnitude of these buildings is what gives the city its name and leads many archaeologists to believe that giants did build and inhabit the city, although many others remain skeptical on that point. What makes this discovery even more peculiar is not just the buildings themselves but also the tools and artifacts found there. Many oversized, manufactured tools were said to have been discovered, allegedly so big that it would be impossible for humans to use them. The team that discovered the city believes that the tools are a crucial piece of evidence that in the distant past, giants once walked the Earth. 7. Maricoxi The Maricoxi are essentially the sasquatches of South America. They are reported to be huge, ape-like beings that can stand up to 3.7 meters (12 ft) tall. Although they appear primitive, they’re said to be fairly intelligent, wielding bows and arrows and even living in villages. According to British explorer Colonel Percival H. Fawcett, who allegedly encountered the creatures while mapping out the jungles of South America in 1914, they were extremely hairy and lived north of a tribe called the Maxubi. They could only speak in grunts and were extremely hostile toward humans. In the colonel’s book, Lost Trails, Lost Cities, he describes how he and his men were nearly attacked by the beasts when they got close to their village. However, they were able to keep the beasts away by firing their guns into the ground by the creatures’ feet, sending them running in terror. In 1925, Fawcett disappeared along with all his men while on an expedition to find a lost city. Theories suggest that they were killed by local tribes or died of starvation. However, some say they were killed by the Maricoxi, although there is no evidence to back this up. 6. Boiling River When he was only a boy, Andrés Ruzo, a geophysicist, heard a legend from his grandfather. This legend was about how the conquistadors went in search of El Dorado, the city of gold, deep in the Amazonian jungles. The fortunate few survivors of the expedition returned with all sorts of stories, ranging from man-eating snakes, jungle people with poison darts, trees bigger than they’d ever seen, and a boiling river capable of instantly killing anyone who would fall in its waters. This story remained with Ruzo into his adulthood. For his PhD, he decided to make Peru’s first detailed geothermal map. Boiling streams do exist. They are located near volcanoes or other geothermal hotspots. The Amazonian basin is nowhere near such places, and the existence of a boiling river would be next to impossible. However, as fate would have it, his aunt, of all people, was familiar with the boiling river. Not only had she been there before, but she was friends with the river shaman’s wife. She took Ruzo there, some 440 miles away from any volcanoes, and deep within the Peruvian jungle. The river itself is about 82 feet wide and 20 feet deep in some places, and for a distance of about 4 miles, its waters are close to boiling point. This site is known as Mayantuyacu, and is considered sacred by the natives. They use its waters for everything from cooking, brewing tea, or washing. Because Mayantuyacu is nowhere near a volcano, there isn’t a simple answer as to where the heat comes from. The best explanation so far, is that this water comes from far away, as far as the glaciers high up in the Andes Mountains. Then it goes through an immense network of fissures within the mountains themselves, then deep underground where it’s heated, only to come back out in this place, making this stretch of the river boil. 5. The Stone Spheres of Costa Rica Ever since the late 1930s, people have been discovering strange stone spheres scattered all across southern Costa Rica. In order to make room for banana plantations, farmers began clearing the jungle Origins Explained is the place to be to find all the answers to your questions, from mysterious events and unsolved mysteries to everything there is to know about the world and its amazing animals!

There's a big market for these tortoises, and so people will go to Madagascar, find them, and then sell them. 5. Durrell’s Vontsira Related to the mongoose, the Durrell’s Vontsira is actually a carnivorous mammal that hides out in the wetlands. This particular area of Madagascar is under threat from numerous sources. One of them is deforestation, but another is that numerous plant and fish species are being introduced to the area that are quite invasive. 4. White-Headed Langur Found on the island of Cat Ba in Vietnam, the White-Headed Langur is one of the rarest mammals on Earth. Richat Structure The Richat Structure or the Eye of the Sahara is a mysterious round formation found in the Sahara near Mauritania. It appears to be some sort of sci-fi experiment, but it is actually a deeply eroded, slightly elliptical dome that is 25 miles wide. 4. Shicheng, China Shicheng City or China’s Atlantis or Lion City, is an underwater city in the Chinese province of Zhejiang. This city is strange for two reasons! It was forgotten and lost for thousands of years…and it has survived remarkably well underwater! 3. Fly Geyser Likely the most beautiful geyser in the world, Fly Geyser can be found in Washoe County, Nevada. It is just 5 feet high, by 12 feet wide. So why is it is amazing or mysterious? Well look at it! It isn’t natural, but rather the result of a test site after a geothermal power company drilled into the rock. 2. The Maunsell Sea Forts From afar, these guys look kind of like oil rigs or something, but they’re really just old sea forts known as the Maunsell Forts. STRANGEST Planets In Space!

Check out the strangest planets in space! These planet discoveries in the universe will definitely get you thinking! Subscribe For New Videos! http://goo.gl/UIzLeB Watch our "WEIRDEST Things On Google Earth!" video here: https://youtu.be/FtOxHRFLSHk Watch our "Places Google Earth Is HIDING From You!" video here: https://youtu.be/sJ_w4qJ06LE Watch our "MYSTERIOUS Objects In The Sky!" video here: https://youtu.be/kV0eO2X155w List of strangest planets in the universe: 10. HD 188753 A planet was discovered to have not one, not two, but three suns glowing in the sky. It is located in HD 188753, a triple-star system located 149 light-years away in the constellation Cygnus. Similar to Luke Skywalker’s home planet of Tatooine that had 2 suns, this Jupiter-like planet must have spectacular sunsets. The main star is similar in mass to our own sun and it orbits very close to it, completing one orbit every 3.5 days. It is still a complete mystery as to how this planet formed in such a complicated setting as the 3 stars would all be pulling it in 3 different directions. 9. CoRoT-7b This volcanic inferno was the first rocky planet confirmed to be orbiting another star outside of our solar system. Known as a Super Earth, it orbits a star 480 light-years away and weighs about 5x the mass of Earth. It is 23x closer to its star than Mercury is to our sun, bringing its surface temperature up to a hellish 4,000 degrees Farenheit (2,200 degrees Celsius). The same side is always facing the star and the other side is always in shadow, where temperatures can drop to minus 350 F (minus 210 C). This rocky planet may be the left-over core of a former gas giant whose atmosphere evaporated a long time ago. If so, it would be the first kind of this type of planet. The extreme heat is so terrible that it can actually vaporize rock. It's atmosphere could have weather systems that cause pebbles to condense out of the air and rain rocks onto the molten surface of the planet. Since it is so close to its star, it is very likely that this planet was once much larger, and is now evaporating before our eyes. 8. TrES-2b: The Dark Planet Since the Dark Planet is much more memorable name than TrES-2b, we'll just stick with that. This planet is literally darker than coal. Discovered by NASA's Kepler space telescope in 2006, it is the size of Jupiter and orbits a star around 750 light-years from Earth. It's nickname, the ‘Dark Planet’ comes from its unique status as the darkest planetary object in the known Universe. This gas giant is heated to 1800 degrees Farenheit (980 degrees Celsius) , and orbits extremely close to its parent star. According to current computer models, hot planets like Jupiter that are gas giants could only be as dark as Mercury, which reflects only 10% if sunlight that hits it. It is very strange that the Dark Planet only reflects about 1% of the light that hits it. It is even less reflective than coal and black acrylic paint. If we could see it up-close, it would look like a black ball of gas with a faint red glow. 7. 55 Cancri e – The Diamond Planet Initially discovered in 2004, 55 Cancri e (also known as Janssen) has been a mystery ever since the first analyses came through about its composition. Approximately the mass of 8 earths, it orbits its host star about 40 light years away from our solar system. Temperatures reach up to 3,100 Fahrenheit, and measurements of a transit captured in 2011 made it possible to calculate its density, and this is where it got interesting. It appears that this planet is actually solid and made up of a carbon-rich material, rather than the oxygen rich material that forms the rocky planets in our solar system. As a result it is very likely that this rocky planet is covered in carbon that has turned into diamond and graphite. According to the current market value of the diamond, it would be worth $26.9 nonillion. Forbes states that only 0.182% of the planet would need to be mined to pay back the entire debt that has been accumulated by all the governments on earth. 6. WASP-12b The ‘Wide Area Search for Planets’, also known as WASP, first discovered this planet in 2008, 600 light-years away. It orbits incredibly close to its parent star, about 1/44th of the distance that our planet orbits our sun, giving it a surface temperature of around 2200 degrees Celsius (3992 degree Farenheit). It is the hottest known planet in the Milky Way and it may also be the shortest-lived. The doomed planet is getting eaten by its parent star and the star's tidal forces are pulling away its atmosphere, turning it into an egg shape. This is the first time that we have been able to observe a star consuming a planet so clearly. At the current rate, WASP-12B may be entirely gone within 10 million years.

Predator X Predator X is the most powerful marine reptile ever discovered. Over 15 meters long, and weighing about 4 tons, it was twice as big as most Jurassic predators. The giant reptile roamed the seas about 150 million years ago and was officially classified as a new species. Now known as Pliosaurus funkei, it had a massive 2m skull with a bite four times as powerful as a Tyrannosaurus rex. (Although I prefer the name Predator X). Studies of the brain cavity of Predator X has revealed that its brain was actually similar to the much smaller great white shark?. In 2006, scientists found two massive pliosaur skeletons in Norway. The giant creatures, looked slightly different from other pliosaurs discovered in England and France over the last century and a half.  The pliosaur family had short necks and four large, paddle-shaped limbs like a turtle that allowed them to move up to 5m per second. The newly discovered funkei species likely lived closer to 145 million years ago and ate plesiosaurs, related long-necked, small-headed reptiles. The new analysis shows P. funkei had longer front paddles than other pliosaurs, and different teeth. This predator is still bigger than the largest living apex predator, the whale, which tops out at about 9m (30 ft) long. 8. Plesiosaurs Plesiosaurs were a group of marine reptiles, or dinosaurs-that-weren’t-actually-dinosaurs but lived at the same time during the Jurassic Period. It had a tiny head and a long neck, paddle flippers, and a tail. Even though it was smaller than Predator X, Its mouth was full of needle-like teeth pointing inward, a perfect death trap for prey and for ripping flesh. In 1987 a plesiosaur fossil was discovered with the bones of an embryo in its abdomen, proving that the animal gave birth to live young. This creature seems to have somehow given rise to the Loch Ness Monster as the physical description is very similar. Plesiosaurs would swallow stones weighing about 5 pounds (2.2kg) to help them digest their prey. If there was one plesiosaur you needed to watch out for, it was Liopleurodon (lye plur i dun). This carnivorous beast could weigh over 3,500 pounds and reach over 30 feet in length, including jaws that are believed to be 10 feet alone, complete, of course, with a very wide jaw and several rows of razor-sharp teeth. Their bodies consisted of a unique, paddle design for limbs, which has been tested and proven on small swimming robots that the Liopleurodon would not have been super fast they were terrifyingly agile. Most likely they hunted similar to the crocodiles of today, with short and fast burst attacks. So that makes them just perfect for any underwater haunted...aquarium. 7. Giant Sea Scorpion (Jaekelopterus rhenaniae) Since there is no way I can pronounce this we'll just call this one the Giant Sea Scorpion. Larger than a human and about the size of a crocodile (2.5m), the 390-million-year-old sea scorpion was the top predator of its day. This was one of the two largest arthropods to have ever lived, reaching a length of over 8 feet of armored, clawed horror. Most of us freak out at the thought of a tarantula, so it’s easy to imagine screaming like a banshee if you ever swam by one of these. A huge fossilized spiky claw discovered in Germany in 2007 measured 18 inches (46 cm). We've known about super sized insects for years now but it wasn't until this discovery that scientists realized just how big some of these creepy crawlies could get. The next biggest fossil arthropods were massive millipedes that grew more than 2 meters (6.5 feet) long, 6. Basilosaurus The Basilosaurus’ name and appearance make it seem like an ancient reptile, but it’s actually a blood-thirsty ancestor of today’s whales. It's ironic given that its name means “King Lizard,” but that is because when it was discovered by Richard Owen in 1834, it was thought be a reptile. It wasn't until over 10 years later that he discovered it was actually a mammal and tried to rename it the Zeuglodon, meaning Yoke Tooth, but that didn’t catch on.

Hephaestus Hephaestus, the son of Zeus and Hera, was the god of fire, metalworking, stone masonry, forges, and the art of sculpture. He was responsible for making all of the weapons for the gods of Olympus and had his own palace on the mountain where he forged all of his creations. 9. Atë Atë was, according to differing accounts, either the daughter of Eris or, perhaps, one of the daughters of Zeus himself. She was known as the goddess of mischief and ruin in Greek mythology and was closely linked with the other gods and goddesses of negative situations. 8. Aristaeus Aristaeus was seen as a minor god in Greek mythology and was the protector and creator of a number of arts such as beekeeping and cheesemaking. Nice and peaceful, right? His parents were Apollo and nymph Cyrene, and he was born in Libya; later traveling and living in Thebes, and is said to have married the city’s founder. 7. Antheia Antheia, often linked with Aphrodite, was one of the Graces of Greek mythology, and was the goddess of flowers and flowery wreaths, as well as vegetation, blossoms, gardens, and individual love. 6. Pheme If any of the Greek gods or goddesses were around today, then Pheme would undoubtedly have been the busiest and most revered- because she was the personification of fame and renown. Those who she favored rose to prominence in society, while those who angered her would be scorned and plagued by rumors wherever they went. Seems very applicable today, right?? 5. Hypnos Hypnos was one of the primordial gods of Greek mythology and was known as the personification of sleep. He lived in a cave in the underworld with his brother, Thanatos, where there was no light being cast by the sun or the moon. In front of their cave were a number of sleep-inducing plants, such as poppies, and the river of forgetfulness flowed through. 4. Tyche Tyche was, unlike many other goddesses, one that represented both the good and bad aspects of her important characteristics- those of chance, fate, and fortune. Those who lived in ancient Greece believed her to be the reason behind all unexpected events in their lives. If, for example, someone did very well, despite having put in no effort, then they were said to be blessed by Tyche at birth… 3. Ploutus Ploutus was a god that every ancient Greek wanted on their side- because he was the god of wealth. He was said to have been born on the island of Crete to a local hero called Iasion, and Demeter, the goddess of the harvest and fertility. He was usually depicted as a young boy carrying a horn-shaped container of wheat, which was known as a cornucopia. 2. Zelus One of the minor gods from Greek mythology, Zelus was, as his name might suggest, the god of dedication, envy, rivalry, jealousy, and zeal. His parents were Pallas and Styx, and he had three siblings- Nike, Kratos, and Bia. 1. Dionysus Dionysus was, arguably, the most important Greek god that not many people have heard of, but m you should know, -because he was the god of wine, winemaking, fertility, madness, and theatre. It’s believed that he was worshipped by the Mycenaean Greeks as early as 1500 BC and, as a result of wine being such an important part of culture at the time, Dionysus was highly revered. Black Widow Boston resident Jorge Fuertes purchased a bag of Anthony’s brand red seedless grapes from a Whole Foods Market. Later, when he and his twenty-year-old son took a lunch break, they saw something strange in the bag. According to Fuertes, the bag was full of spider webs and between the grapes they could see a spider. As they inspected the bag, at least two more spiders crawled out, both black, shiny, and with the distinctive red hourglass. Yes, their bag of grapes contained black widows. These spiders, however, are rarely deadly. Their neurotoxic venom is extremely painful, though, causing muscle cramps, vomiting, and dizziness. Of course, Fuertes reported his find. Bags of Anthony’s brand grapes were pulled from the shelves of that store and the grocery store chain immediately began inspecting all produce. A spokesman for Whole Foods Market assured the public that they take every precaution to inspect produce but that spiders were “part of the natural environment where grapes are grown”. 10. Frozen Frog When we open a bag of frozen veggies, we don’t expect to find a stowaway. In 2010, Marty Hoffman opened a bag for her dog. The Hoffman’s dog was on a special meat-and-vegetable diet to help with a skin condition. When she dumped out the bag, she saw something frozen that she at first thought was a weird looking asparagus. However, on closer inspection, she discovered it was a frog! The Hoffmans contacted the FDA, who didn’t respond as quickly as the family would have liked. I mean, who are you supposed to call when you find something weird in your food??They then reported their find to a local newspaper columnist, who in turn contacted the grocery store chain. That brand name of frozen vegetable was immediately pulled from shelves and inspected. No other frogs, though, were found and the whole incident was put down as a fluke. Supposedly, the FDA eventually got around to inspecting the factories where the vegetables were processed, but there’s no word on what they found. Rumors spread that the family intended to sue or capitalize on the viral event. However, the Hoffman family denied those rumors and say they still shop at the store where they bought the frozen vegetables. After all, what’s a tiny frozen frog going to do to you? 9. A Condom In the late ‘90s, a customer named William Smith ordered two Big Macs, fries, and a drink in a mini-mall in Easton, Pennsylvania. The first sandwich was fine but the second had a strange flavor. Smith took off the bun to discover a condom in his sandwich. What’s more, the condom was reported later to be, quote, “degraded” because the Big Mac had been warmed in a microwave. Smith showed the sandwich to the manager, who brought out seven male workers. None of the workers owned up to putting the condom in Smith’s food, though they all thought it was funny. The manager gave him two coupons for free sandwiches. Feeling ill later, he went to the hospital. A police officer tried to confiscate the sandwich as evidence but the manager claimed she was instructed by McDonald’s headquarters not to turn it over. William Smith tried to sue the company but the lawsuit was later dismissed. This wouldn’t be the last time a condom would be found in a McDonald’s meal. In 2009, a 7-year-old girl found a condom in her French fries. The police investigated it and deemed the condom was a “health risk”. I think anyone with common sense could say that eating warmed up rubber clearly can’t be good for you. 8. A Mouse Mice tend to turn up a lot in places they don’t need to be. One such place would be a loaf of bread. In 2009, Oxfordshire resident, Stephen Forse, took out a loaf of Hovis Best of Both to make sandwiches for his children. He noticed a strange dark patch covering the corner of four slices. At first thinking it was a defect from the baking process, he took a closer look and realized it was a mouse. More horrifyingly, the mouse was missing a tail. Upon further investigation, no one could account for the tail. Whoops!! Forse turned the loaf over to environmental health officers. Friday Premier Foods, who make Hovis Best of Both, pled guilty for not properly inspecting their food at all stages of production. They were fined £5,500. Yo-Yo The ancient Greeks are known for many wonderful creations and inventions, but as a vase from 440 B.C. shows, they were apparently masters of recreation and finding ways to entertain themselves too. How so? Well, because this vase shows a woman playing with an object that is clearly a Yo-Yo. That's right, apparently, Yo-Yo's were around in 440 BC, and the Greeks seemed to love them so much that they put them into art pieces. 13. Diagnosis: Earwax Whether it was the Greeks, the Romans, the Chinese, Egyptians, or any other famous culture in between, there are always "unique" medical practices that you can find from their early days. In regards to the Greeks, they had a very interesting practice where if you were sick, the doctor wouldn't start checking you out until he had a taste of your earwax. 11. Female Eyebrows That's not to say that ancient Greece didn't have certain philosophies and beliefs for the female body, because goddesses were also represented. But they were especially interested in their eyebrows. For unlike today, where a unibrow is "frowned upon" in terms of beauty, the Greeks really liked them. 10. To Wipe, Or Not To Wipe When it comes to thinking about times before modern amenities, one of the biggest topics brought up is about toilet paper. After all, toilet paper wasn't widely circulated until the 1800's, so that's thousands of years of people having to go to the bathroom and not having toilet paper, so what did people like the ancient Greeks use when they had to go? 9. Athletic Sweat Perks Greek culture revered their sports athletes, after all, this is the civilization that created the Olympics. But in some ways, it was more than just reverence, the very bodies and fluids of these athletes were believed to be gifts straight from the gods and everything they emitted was mystical, including their sweat. 7. A "Fine" Wine When you think about ancient Greeks, you probably think that this culture loved to have social events and parties, and that they would drink heavily all the time. While it's true that ancient Greeks loved their wines, they rarely drank them as they were. Meaning, they would actually "dilute" the wine with water to ensure that they didn't get drunk. 5. Musically Inclined The men of Greece were known to be athletes, and warriors, and of course, politicians, but what many don't know is that a vast majority of male Greeks, regardless of their social status or job, were very well versed in music. In fact, it's said that most men in Greece knew how to play at least one musical instrument, if not more. 4. Spartan Romance The Spartan culture was a very intense one, and that applied not only to their training (which led them to be some of the best warriors in the world) but how they got married, and what would happen when they did. 3. Olympics Are Not For The Married This is an odd custom that was discovered about ancient Greece. Mainly, if you were a married woman, you could NOT watch the Olympics, at all. 2. Political Exile Politicians are a group of people that are both respected and despised, and this isn't just from the modern world. Ancient Greece had that problem too. Remember, the Greeks were the creators of democracy, and they made positions to help the will of the people be known, ergo: politicians. However, the Greeks had the never changing issue of politicians becoming corrupt in their position, and trying to amass power. Black Hole Ah, what a better way to start off this list than with a waterslide that actually sounds like a trap! Now, there are many water parks that have a slide called the Black Hole (I had my own personal embarrassing happen on one of them actually), but the one I am speaking of is in Orlando, Florida at the Wet N’ Wild Water Park. 7. The Rapids Before I go into details on this one, you need some context. This slide made it onto this list because of a mechanical malfunction that almost created a disaster. It was not a design flaw like many other rides on this list. Now you know. 6. The Aqua Sphere The Peninsula Aquatic Recreation Center is home to a ride known as the Aqua Sphere, and it's not hard to see how it got the name with those massive sphere popping out in certain places. Side note, there are a lot of slides that have "aqua" in the title. Why? Are they struggling to come up with good names for the rides? Or are they just trying to be super clear about what the ride entails? Anyway, let’s move on. 5. The Aqua Loop Loops are a key attraction at both amusement parks and water parks. But the main problem with designing a ride with loops is that if you don't get enough speed, you're not going around it. This is what happened with one woman in Australia who rode The Aqua Loop. 4. The Verrückt Part of the fun of going on a waterslide is seeing the way it's designed. Since it's a park, it's meant to incite feelings of awe and wonder of what going on the different slides will be like. But, since they are competing to be cool and cause excitement, it can have some bad side effects, including. 3. Streamer Slide When it comes to waterslides, there are two ways to go down. One, is bare body, which is standard in most slides. The other is by inner tube, which can be solo or in tandem depending on the ride. In regards to the tubes, there's always a danger of not holding on and losing them. But the truly dangerous waterslides are the ones that make those tubes flip with you in it. 2. Aqua Nova Adventure Pool This one is actually really terrifying, and not even in the way you’d expect but it needs to be said. You go on waterslides to have fun, to enjoy the water park and hang out in the pool. It's great, except when the ending dangerous, especially for women. 1. Cannonball Loop Ok, this one had to be at the top of the list. Now, yes, it's not "in" the world anymore, but it was for a month, and from start to finish this waterslide was not only dangerous, it was potentially lethal, and yet the people who made it and ran the park didn't care. Ladies and gentlemen, I give to you...the Cannonball Loop. The dog was found inside of a hollow trunk after the top of the tree was cut off. 7. “BUTTERCUP” THE WOOLLY MAMMOTH In May 2013, a well-preserved woolly mammoth with a pool of liquid blood under its belly was discovered in the ice on Maliy Lyakhovsky Island in Siberia. During a necropsy that was performed in Yakutsk, scientists collected blood and tissue samples that they hope can be used to clone the animal. 6. Animals in EGYPTIAN TOMB In April of this year, scientists announced the discovery of an ancient Egyptian tomb containing the mummified remains of a married couple and over 50 animals, including mice, ibex, cats, eagles, and falcons. The tomb was found in the city of Akhmim, which is about four miles from Sohag, and dates back to the Ptolemaic period - more than 2,000 years ago. 5. EXTINCT CAVE LION CUB In the Yakutia region of Siberia in September 2017, a local resident stumbled upon the well-preserved carcass of a 50,000-year-old extinct cave lion cub on the banks of the Tirekhtykh River. The animal was probably one-and-a-half to two months old when it perished, according to researchers. 4. PETRIFIED HORSE FROM POMPEII In late 2018, archaeologists working in the ancient town of Pompeii discovered the petrified remains of a harnessed horse. Pompeii was covered in volcanic ash during the massive eruption of Mount Vesuvius in 79 AD. During the eruption, hundreds of tons of lava and toxic gas were produced, which led to the petrification (or the petrifaction)of the horse, as well as other horses in the same stable. 3. YUKON CARIBOU & WOLF PUP During the summer of 2016, the mummified remains of an Ice Age wolf pup and caribou calf were discovered in the permafrost by gold miners near Dawson City, Yukon. Both animals were radiocarbon-dated to at least 50,000 years ago. The dog’s head, tail, skin, and fur were still intact. The caribou was nearly equally well-preserved - its remains consisted of its torso, front limbs, and head. 2. ANCIENT EGYPTIAN LIONS While you already know that some preserved lions were discovered in Siberia, you may be surprised to learn that lion remains have also been found in Egypt. Cats, including lions, were revered in ancient Egypt. One of their gods, Nefertum, was even depicted as a lion, and the goddess Sekhmet had a lion’s head. There was also a lion goddess named Bastet. 1. 42,000-YEAR-OLD CALF In April of last year, researchers in the Verkhoyansk region of Siberia, Russia announced the discovery of an ancient foal, estimated to be around 42,000 years old. The semi-mummified remains still contained liquid blood inside, and in hopes of someday cloning the species, the body fluids were extracted during an autopsy. Most MYSTERIOUS Facts About The Knights Templar!

Check out the Most MYSTERIOUS Facts About The Knights Templar! From the amazing history of crusaders to hidden holy grails and conspiracies, this top 10 list of fascinating mysteries about the knights templar is really intriguing! Subscribe For New Videos! http://goo.gl/UIzLeB Watch our "REAL Mermaid Sightings Around The World!" video here: https://youtu.be/ChM0CBRmVsM Watch our "10 Sea Monsters ATTACKING A Boat!" video here: https://youtu.be/0XROvoPCDNc Watch our "STRANGEST Animals People Keep As Pets!" video here: https://youtu.be/OMa96nPqz-Y 10. Who were the Knights Templar? The first crusade was a military campaign organized by western rulers, the Pope, and the Byzantine Empire to take Jerusalem away from Muslim control. In the year 1099, the capture of Jerusalem led to thousands upon thousands of Christian pilgrims making the journey to the Holy Land. While the city itself was secure, the area around it, known as Outremer, was a place of bandits and marauders. 9. The Temple of Solomon While in Jerusalem, the order set up their headquarters in the building that was formerly the Al Aqsa mosque, from where they organized their operations. There was more to this choice of location than many believed, as the Knights believed it to be the site of the Temple of Solomon. The building stood on the Temple Mount, which was where the vast temple of the Jews of the Old Testament once stood, and while the buildings atop the mount had long been destroyed, the Knights suspected there may still be hidden structures beneath. 8. Temple Church The Knights Templar had strongholds across Europe, but there’s actually one that you can visit today! In an area of London, England, known as ‘Temple’, you can walk through a stone archway onto Inner Temple lane where you’ll find yourself surrounded by gothic and Victorian architecture. It was here that the Knights Templar built monastic dormitories and chambers and, most significantly, the Temple Church. 7. Rosslyn Chapel The chapel in the town of Rosslyn, just to the south of Edinburgh in Scotland, is inconspicuous at first glance, but its links with the Knights Templar have led to theories suggesting it’s the hiding place of something incredibly significant. If the weather-worn gothic architecture seems familiar, then you may know this place from the movie, the Da Vinci Code, which featured the chapel. 6. The 12 Who Escaped According to legend, during the rounding up and execution of the Knights Templar in France, it’s thought that 24 managed to escape. 12 of this group were named in a document from 1307, which suggests that they were, in particular, being searched for by the king, but what was so special about them? 5. Templar Towns As we have seen, the Knights Templar constructed buildings across Europe, and maintained a stronghold in Jerusalem for as long as possible, but did you know that they also built entire towns? Partly as a result of the wealth, they accumulated, and because they needed to provide their followers with secure places to live, these Templar outposts can be found throughout Europe, particularly in the hills on the border between Spain and Portugal. 4. Did they Visit America? Following the arrest of most of the order, those who evaded capture fled to far-flung places, and some believe they may even have made it as far as the Americas. When the French authorities raided the Paris Temple, they found it to be completely empty. 3. Supposed Worship of Baphomet One of the claims against the Templars, when they were arrested, was of blasphemy. While they disputed this, they certainly had some unusual rituals, one of which was supposedly the worship of Baphomet. You may recognize images of Baphomet from things ranging from heavy metal albums to religious propaganda, as the icon is often associated with Satanism. 2. There Were Female Members We only ever see depictions of the Knights Templar being men and, what with the way the world was, it would be a fair assumption to believe that the only members of the monastic order were male… but that’s not entirely true. While the Knights Templar were formed to fight battles, and the Order’s rule, set out by Saint Bernard of Clairvaux, explicitly forbade women from joining to prevent temptation 1. They Still Exist Today! Despite the order of the Knights Templar having been officially disbanded in 1314, their influence and teachings can still be felt today. Of course, it’s long been thought that Knights have continued to protect the legendary treasures that were hidden, but the truth behind this has so far evaded discovery. Homo Heidelbergensis The Homo Heidelbergensis lived in Europe and possibly Asia around 700,000 to 200,000 years ago. It was an early species of human that had a very large brow-ridge, and a distinctly larger braincase and a flatter face than those that came before them. This was the first early human that lived in colder climates. It is believed they were able to do so because of their shorter, wider bodies that helped to conserve heat. They were the first species that we know of that built shelters from wood and rocks, were adept at using fire, and routinely hunted large animals with wooden spears. Workmen in Heidelberg in Germany first discovered them in 1908, which is where they got their name. Despite knowing a few details about how they lived based upon further discoveries that have been made, there’s still a lot that we don’t know. For example, is this just one species or the combination of a few unknown ones? Where does Homo Heidelbergensis fit in with our own evolutionary path? And, were there any other adaptations that made this species of human more suited to colder climates than their predecessors? 9. Homo Rudolfensis The Homo Rudolfensis lived in Eastern Africa between 1.9 million and 1.7 million years ago. It was a very early species of human, and evidence of them is so rare that there’s only one example of a good fossil that was found in Kenya in 1986. The feature that makes the Homo Rudolfensis different is the size of the brain casing. In the example that has been found, it measures at 775 cubic centimeters, which is much larger than has been found in any specimens of earlier species, and signifies a much larger and capable brain. It also had a longer face and larger molar and premolar teeth that show its links to more recent types of human. Because the fossil of Homo Rudolfensis comes from so long ago, we know very little about this species- we don’t even know if it comes from the same lineage as we do, or whether it was one that eventually died out through competition with more capable species. We also don’t know how large they grew, or even what differences, if any, that there were between the males and females. 8. Homo Habilis Homo Habilis lived in Eastern and Southern Africa between 2.3 million and 1.4 million years ago, which makes them one of the longest surviving species of any of our ancestors. They are one of the earliest “Homo” species, and thought to be one of the first steps of evolution to what we are today. They had a larger brain case and smaller face and teeth than their predecessors, but still showed ape-like features such as longer arms and legs. They weighed about 70 pounds and would grow to be up to 5 feet tall. The first confirmed fossil of Homo Habilis was discovered in 1960. The name Habilis means “Handy Man” in reference to the fact these are thought to be the first ones to use stone tools. Of course they lived an extremely long time ago so there’s a lot about them that we don’t know yet. Questions that researchers are dying to answer include; are they a direct ancestor of today’s humans? Are they related to, or the same species as Homo Rudolfensis? And, how did they survive the variable conditions on earth that we know went on at that time? 7. Homo Floresiensis The Homo Floresiensis, often called the Hobbit, lived in Indonesia between 100,000 and 50,000 years ago. This is one of the most recently discovered species, having been found in 2003, and so far finds have been limited to the island of Flores. This was a very small species, a trait that is thought to have occurred because of island dwarfism where the limited resources available to creatures that are isolated on islands causes different evolutionary effects. They were only about 3 foot 6 inches tall, had very small brains, no chins, receding foreheads and very large feet. These estimates are based on a female skeleton that was found, that also suggests they could weigh up to 66 pounds. The discovery of this species has raised more questions than it has answered for researchers. For example, stone tools that were found on the island date back over a million years, so who made them if Homo Floresiensis only arrived 100,000 years ago? How did they live, and why did they die out? And, most interestingly in regards to our own species, did they ever come into contact with our own predecessors?

Cave Bears Cave bears lived across Europe and Asia until about 24,000 years ago. As the name would suggest, they are thought to have spent most of their lives in caves- but no-one knows this for sure. They got their name because the majority of their fossils have been found in caves. They were distant relatives of the brown bear and were a similar size- weighing up to 2,200 pounds. Imagine a sloth and a bear weighing the same thing! 8. Aurochs Aurochs were one of the earliest species of cow, but they were nothing like the ones we see today. They were as tall as elephants, were incredibly powerful, and had giant horns that made them a significant threat. They were, for many thousands of years, the largest land mammals in Europe!! Unfortunately for them, increasing populations of humans who hunted them for food meant the end of the Auroch. 7. The Megalania The Megalania prisca was a huge and deadly monitor lizard that lived in Australia until about 40,000 years ago. They grew to up to 30 feet long, and their name literally means ‘Ancient Giant Butcher’…. It was one of the dominant predators on the continent, and they were extremely venomous. But did they actually go extinct all those years ago? 6. Mastodon Mastodons were large elephant-like animals that lived across North and Central America until about 10,000 years ago. Their herds roamed through forests, where they grazed on the vegetation. Remains of at least 4 different species of Mastodon have been found, with the American Mastodon being both the most famous, and last surviving type. 5. Arctic Ground Squirrel Arctic Ground squirrels first came to prominence during the last ice age, with nests having been found that are more than 90,000 years old! Remember from the movie ICE AGE? That little squirrel was nutty but he could survive everything!! 4. The Short Faced Bear The giant short-faced bear prowled across North America until about 11,000 years ago. It lived at a time when there was tough competition from animals like the dire wolf and American lion, but most would have stayed out of the way of this bear… 3. The Moa New Zealand is famous for its unusual wildlife- because of its isolation and because of the lack of many different types of predators that are common in other places. Because of this, many species of birds flourished before humans began to hunt them, and one of the strangest ones was known as the Moa. 2. Sabre Tooth Cat Sabre Tooth Cats were another species that lived worldwide until around 11,000 years ago. The name is actually misleading, because they weren’t related to modern cats, and actually have closer links to marsupials. They were very large creatures, with bear-like bodies, and the recognisable curved canine teeth that protruded from their mouths. 1. The Woolly Mammoth Probably the most famous of ice age animals, there have been some mysterious encounters with the supposedly extinct woolly mammoth. In the 1500s until about the 1800s explorers in Alaska and Siberia reported seeing giant, hairy elephants roaming around. Native tribes would report there were hairy beasts that slept against trees but were very rare. Grand Menhir of Locmariaquer The Grand Menhir of Locmariaquer is one of the largest freestanding stones to have been erected anywhere in Europe and is a part of a wider site of significance in the area. Based on my amazing French accent, you can probably guess it is Located in France. It is believed to date back more than 6,500 years. The original stone is estimated to have weighed as much as 355 tons and stood taller than 65 feet. 9. Trilithon of Baalbek, Lebanon In the ruins of the former city of Heliopolis, now in the Lebanese town of Baalbek, lie the largest cut stones ever known to have been created by human civilization. At the base of the ruins of the Jupiter Baal temple are three stones, called the Trilithon, and each weighs more than 750 tons! Researchers remain divided as to who created these monsters. 8. Rujm el-Hiri, Golan Heights The Golan Heights region on the border between Israel and Syria has a number of important archaeological sites, but one of the most interesting is Rujm el-Hiri. The five concentric rings are made from piled up basalt rock. The central stack is about 15 feet tall, while the others are mounds of about 8 feet. Once, at the center, there was a tomb… but recent surveys have found that its contents have long been moved away. 7. Gochang Dolmens, South Korea Dolmens are tombs made from large stone slabs and can be found at megalithic sites around the world. The place with the most concentrated number of them, though, is South Korea… where there are three sites with a particularly large number of them. Built around 3 to 5 thousand years ago, they are as good an example as you’ll see anywhere. 6. The Carnac Stones, France The Carnac Stones, in the Brittany region of France, are the largest collection of prehistoric hand cut stones in the world. Large rows of megaliths cover the countryside, along with dolmens, burial mounds, and individual menhirs. In total there are more than 3,000 structures. They would have been created over thousands of years, but the first date back to at least 4,500 BC. 5. Ha’amonga ‘a Maui, Tonga One of the more unusual megalithic structures can be found on the Pacific island of Tonga. The Ha'amonga ‘a Maui historic park is the site of the second capital city of the ancient Tu'I Tonga empire and, according to stories passed on by word of mouth, was built there in the 10th century… having relocated from the village of Toloa. 4. The Taulas of Menorca, Spain The Balearic island of Menorca, off the coast of Spain, is a popular destination for tourists looking for sun, sea, and sand… but it’s also home to 35 stone megaliths that are scattered throughout the island. Known locally as ‘Taulas’, which means ‘table’, because the only parts that remain visible of these buried structures are the flat capstones, they look quite similar to the arrangements at other sites such as Stonehenge. 3. Calçoene Megalithic Observatory, Brazil About 10 miles from the municipality of Calçoene in Brazil, is the largest megalithic site in the whole of South America. Known as the Calçoene megalithic observatory, researchers are constantly uncovering new details of what would have once been an iconic focal point for the local civilization. 2. Göbekli Tepe, Turkey At more than 11,000 years old, six miles from the ancient city of Urfa in Turkey is Göbekli Tepe… thought to be the world's first temple. Predating Stonehenge by 6,000 years, the people of the time hadn't yet developed pottery or metal tools but managed to build this place with massive carved stones. 1. Adam’s Calendar, South Africa Megalithic structures are undoubtedly old, but Adam’s Calendar in South Africa is thought to be the oldest of them all… with some reports suggesting it could have been made around 75,000 years ago. It's one of an estimated 100,000 such structures in the hills around Mpumalanga but is by far the most interesting. Most SURPRISING Facts About The CIA!

11:49
Check out the most surprising facts about the CIA! From secret declassified experiments to spies and mind control, these are real facts about this organisation and not just conspiracy theories! Deliberate Destruction Known as the “Farewell Dossier”, the CIA helped to cause what has been called “the most monumental non-nuclear explosion and fire ever seen from space”. It happened in 1982. A French KGB source, Colonel Vladimir Vetrov, codenamed Farewell, tipped off the CIA about the Soviet’s “shopping list” for software technology to update its natural gas pipelines. So, they wrote software booby-trapped to sabotage the pipelines—and then they let the KGB steal the technology. The CIA hoped to disrupt the Soviet gas supply, thereby harming the internal Russian economy. The bad code was designed to reset pump speeds and valve settings, causing pressures beyond what the pipeline joints and welds could withstand. Their plan worked brilliantly in a mad scientist sort of way. Allegedly there were no casualties in the resulting explosion. However, the disaster caused initial reports suggesting the Soviets had launched a missile or detonated a small nuclear device. As for Colonel Vetrov, the KGB eventually discovered his spying and they executed him the following year. 12. Plausible Deniability The term “plausible deniability” refers to the ability to deny blame because no one can prove responsibility for or knowledge of an action. A famous—and fictitious—example would be from the movie Independence Day. When the President asks how he was never informed of the existence of aliens, a member of his staff claims it was so the President could have plausible deniability. In other words, plausible deniability is withholding key information from senior officials in order to protect them. This tactic has existed for years, probably as long as there have been spies. However, the term “plausible deniability” didn’t exist until the 1960s. And who invented it? The CIA. 11. First CIA Operation Because of the Soviet threat, President Truman saw the need for a centralized intelligence system independent of any policy making branches of government. After taking into account advice from the military, the State Department, and the FBI, Truman established the Central Intelligence Group in 1946. 20 months later it was disbanded and the CIA was created. The National Security Act of 1947 allowed for foreign covert operations. Its first covert operation was to influence the 1948 Italian general election to prevent Communism from taking a hold in the country. The CIA gave $1 million to Italian political parties and delivered bags of money to help them with their campaign expenses. They also wrote millions of letters, published books, and had radio broadcasts to warn the Italians of what would happen if the Communist party won. By the way, the Communist party was being funded by the Soviet Union. The Christian Democrats eventually won the election with the support of the CIA, who continued to be involved in every Italian election for at least the next 24 years. Animals Found FROZEN In Ice!

10:13
Check out these animals found frozen in ice! This top 10 list of amazing animals discoveries has some ancient animals that were frozen in time for eternity! 10. The Yuka Mammoth The Yuka mammoth is one of the most well known and scientifically valuable animals that have ever been found. It was discovered in 2010 within the Siberian permafrost on the coast of the Laptev Sea in Russia. The most unusual thing about this 39,000-year-old mammoth was that it was mummified, and had the most in-tact mammoth brain ever found, with folds and blood vessels still visible. Finding specimens like this is incredibly helpful to understanding the species. Studies of the brain showed it to be very similar to modern day elephants, and also led to researchers to developing better ways of storing mammoths in the future when new ones are found. Along with the Yuka mammoth, a number of other ones have been found in the region, although not in as good condition, and have been highly sought after by researchers for a different purpose. Because of their relatively intact DNA, and their status as an intriguing extinct animal that is very similar to some that exist today, the mammoth is a great candidate for bringing a species back from extinction using cutting edge technology. It is believed that with a bit of luck and perseverance, we might once again see these giants alive and well, and maybe within just a few years! I would definitely love to see that! 9. Moose It’s rare enough to find an animal preserved in ice, but rarer still is the apparent freezing of two animals when they’re interacting with each other. Well this is what a couple of hikers found in Alaska in 2016. Beneath 8 inches of ice was the stunning sight of two moose fighting each other, clearly so engrossed in their tussle that they failed to notice the approaching frost. In the fall, males tend to be more aggressive towards each other, likely due to territorial disputes or to gain the attention of a female, and at some point these two managed to get their antlers tangled. They probably drowned in the cold water before being frozen over as temperatures fell. Soon after their discovery, the moose were removed from the ice by local enthusiasts who wanted to preserve the unusual find forever. 8. Fish As a fish living in water, ice can be both a blessing and a curse. It’s the unique property of ice floating on top of water that helps to insulate warmth and allow fish to survive falling temperatures, but they aren’t always so lucky. In 2014, a sharp cold eastern wind sent temperatures plummeting very quickly around the island of Lovund in Norway, and instantly froze parts of the ocean. Unfortunately for a large shoal of fish, thought to be attempting to escape a predator at the time, there was no chance to avoid the approaching ice, and they were frozen in place. The ice sheet was so thick that it was perfectly safe for people to walk across, and capture these amazing images of thousands of fish frozen in time. This event had a major impact on the local ecosystem, because birds were unable to find any food, so the skies were strangely silent until the ice finally thawed. 7. Yukagir Bison Siberia is one of the coldest places on earth that has been regularly inhabited for millennia. This makes it the perfect place to find frozen animals like the Yuka mammoth, and close by there was another discovery in 2011, the mummified remains of a Steppe Bison- the ancestor to the modern bison. Discovered by a tribe in the Yana-Indigirka Lowland, the bison was remarkably intact, with its brain and other organs almost perfectly preserved. This is the most complete Steppe Bison ever to be found, and has allowed researchers to extensively study its brain, heart, digestive system and blood vessels, despite it being well over 9000 years old. With no visible signs of injury, it is thought that the lack of body fat around its abdomen is a clue as to how it died. Most likely from starvation as a result of the rapidly changing environment in the area at the time. 6. Selerikan Pony In 1968, gold miners digging tunnels, about 30 feet below the surface of the Indigirka River in Siberia, found something surprising- two legs and a tail of a pony sticking through the roof of one of their tunnels. Experts were called in from the Zoological institute of St. Petersburg to help recover the full animal, which they managed to do, apart from its head. The body turned out to be of a Przewalski (prez walski) Horse, that nowadays is only found in Mongolia, and amazingly this one appeared to have died about 35,000 years ago. Analysis of the remains suggested that the horses lived relatively similar then to how they still do today. The first clear, historical record of the lost city was from 574 AD. 4. Mariana Trench We know more about the surface of Mars than the deep sea. And numerous divers have tried to discover what lies at the bottom. The discovery of the Mariana Trench in 1875 opened up a whole new world for us! Challenger Deep is in the southern end of the Mariana Trench and is the deepest part of the trench, estimated to be about 10,994 metres (36,070 ft). 3. Lost Continent Of Mu While Atlantis may be the most famous "lost underwater civilization", it's hardly the only one as you know by now!! One of the other famous ones is the Lost Continent of Mu. This is believed by some to have been an actual continent in the Pacific Ocean that was sunk after some terrible natural disaster. Like Atlantis, was a land made of technologically advanced people. 2. S.S Central America The S.S. Central America sank off the coast of Carolina in 1857 when it ran smack into a hurricane. While that may sound common, the cargo was not. It was full of tons and tons of gold. 130 years later, in 1987, researchers had the technology to map and explore the sea floor and that meant that finding shipwrecks got a whole lot easier!! 1. Apollo 11 Engines Arguably the most famous space shuttle in history was Apollo 11, which was the flight that took the first people to the moon. When it launched in 1969, many of its parts were scattered to the oceans after they detached from the main shuttle. This actually started a mini-race to try and find them all. The Women of Stonehenge Stonehenge is one of the world’s most iconic and mysterious Neolithic monuments. The henge, or stone circle, was a cemetery for high-ranking individuals as well as a sort of calendar, since its stones align with the sunset on the winter solstice and sunrise on the summer solstice. It was built between 4000 and 5000 years ago, and most of its secrets have yet to be revealed. 7. Lincolnshire Black Death Pit In the 14th century, the Black Death, also known as bubonic plague, killed 75 million to 200 million people all across Europe and Asia. Britain was not immune to the plague, and some experts estimate that fifty percent of the population of what is now the United Kingdom died during the outbreak. 6. Boxford Roman mosaic Britain was once a province of the Roman Empire, and there are Roman-era archaeological sites all across the country. Usually the sites are stone walls and hidden pits, but in 2017, archaeologists working near the little town of Boxford found something extraordinary. 5. Staffordshire Hoard In 2009, a man with a metal detector was searching a field outside Hammerwich, Staffordshire, when he got the surprise of his life. When his metal detector went off to tell him he’d found something, he was expecting a coin or maybe someone’s lost pocket watch. What he found instead was the largest hoard of Anglo-Saxon treasure ever found in the United Kingdom! 4. Lindow Man In 1984, commercial peat cutters at Lindow Marsh near Wilmslow in Cheshire, England, came across a gruesome discovery. One of the workers pulled what he thought was a piece of wood off of the machine he was using to cut peat, but when he tossed it aside, he realized that it was a human foot! The condition of the foot made them think this was a modern murder victim, so the authorities were called. 3. Hoxne Hoard In 1992, another man with a metal detector found what’s come to be known as the Hoxne Hoard!! This is the largest hoard of late Roman gold and silver ever found in Britain. I’ve been telling you guys, we have to all go to the UK with a metal detector!! The hoard dates to 407 AD, which is right about the time that Rome was withdrawing from Britain 2. Richard III Richard III was the last of the Plantagenet kings of England, and he is best known from his villainous portrayal in Shakespeare’s play about his life. He was known to have died in the Battle of Bosworth, the last English monarch to die in combat. He was buried in a simple grave at Greyfriars Friary in Leicester, but the location of his grave was lost after the monasteries were dissolved under Henry VIII. 1. Heatwave Revelations The summer of 2018 was one of the hottest and driest that the United Kingdom has ever seen. The landscape suffered under the heat as crops shriveled and grasses wilted. There was a silver lining to this heat cloud, though – the elimination of a top layer of vegetation helped reveal over a thousand years’ worth of lost archaeological sites. However, there remains one elusive summit- that of Gangkhar Puensum that lies on the border between Bhutan and China. With an elevation of 24,836 feet, it’s the highest unclimbed mountain in the world, and a place steeped in mystery. 9. Megalithic Stones in the Ural Mountains The Ural mountains in Russia have been the site of a number of mysterious finds, but perhaps none so strange as a series of megalithic stones that were found in 2014 near Shoria mountain in southern Siberia. Some of these stones are thought to weigh as much as 4,000 tons, and they appear to have been cut with tools to give them flat surfaces and sharp corners… before being stacked 130 feet high. 8. The Ararat Anomaly Mount Ararat, in the east of modern-day Turkey, is one of the most famous mountains in the world because of its religious significance. A photograph taken in 1949 by a US Air Force reconnaissance plane made this place even more mystical. The mountain is actually a dormant volcano, consisting of two cones known as Greater Ararat and Little Ararat. 7. Black Mountain Black Mountain, in Queensland, Australia, stands out from the surrounding brush with its ominous looking dark rock, but this place has long been associated with unexplained phenomenon and is feared and avoided by those who live nearby. Whether it’s strange creatures, unexplained lights, or the countless people supposed to have visited but never returned… Black mountain has it all, but is there any truth behind it? 6. Dyatlov Pass Dyatlov pass, in the northern region of Russia’s Ural mountains, is the site of one of mountaineering’s greatest mysteries. In January of 1959, nine college students were killed under mysterious circumstances, and to this day no-one knows what happened to them. There are several versions of this story, but here is one of them. 5. Gurudongmar Lake Gurudongmar lake, in India, is one of the highest lakes in the world and is considered sacred by Buddhists, Sikhs, and Hindus. Legend says that the place was blessed by Guru Nanak, the spiritual leader of Sikhism, while he passed by in the 15th century. 4. Kangtega Peak The Kantega peak is a major summit in the Nepal Himalayas that reaches as high as 22,251 feet… and was first climbed in 1964. At first, it looks like every other peak in the range, but there's something that's caught the attention of UFO hunters around the world… the fact that a large portion of the mountain has been blacked out on Google Maps. 3. The Valley of Headless Men Nahanni national park, in the Mackenzie mountain range of Canada, is as stunning a place as you would expect from the region… but there’s something mysterious about this particular area, which has become known as the valley of headless men. Rather than just being a scary name, it's earned this moniker because of the number of people who have disappeared nearby and later found without their heads. 2. The Khentii Mountains The Khentii mountains are a range to the northeast of Mongolia, and are covered by the Khan Khentii Strictly Protected area… which is a 4,740 square mile wildlife preservation area that limits visitors, whether for tourism, hunting, or other reasons. 1. Gyanganj The Himalayas is a massive and largely unexplored mountain region, and legends from India and Tibet suggest there may still be something incredible to discover… the city of Gyanganj, also known as the city of the immortal beings. Sea Lions Sea Lions have long been associated with friendly interactions with humans, so much so that they form a large part of Peruvian culture- having been worshipped by the people there and depicted in numerous artworks. They are highly intelligent animals, which means they can learn tricks to entertain crowds, and are quite curious so they will often swim up alongside humans and play with them in the water. They are also used by the US military to assist SCUBA diving teams look for underwater mines and, in some instances, detain divers who have accessed restricted areas until authorities can arrive. Sea lions and dolphins are used as combat marine units and sea lions especially, have excellent eyesight. Sea lions are hardy, smart, and trainable and they have the added advantage that they are amphibious and can easily hand things to their handlers. This all makes Sea Lions sound like gentle creatures, but it’s important to know that sea lions have another side to them. If they aren’t treated well or respectfully, they can become quite aggressive. This can also happen with male Sea Lions because they are very territorial during mating season. If it looks like you’re bothering one then stay away but, if not, they are one of the friendliest sea creatures you’ll ever meet. 9. Beluga Whale Beluga Whales are native to the Arctic and sub-arctic, and are uniquely adapted to the cold waters. They are white in color, don’t have a dorsal fin, and have an enlarged head, which contains an organ called a melon that is used for echolocation. Beluga’s were actually the first type of whale to be kept in captivity, with the first being shown at Barnum’s museum in New York in 1861. To this day they are still the most commonly seen animal in marine parks across North America, Europe and Asia- mainly because they are much smaller than other species of whale and easier to contain. They are also a hit with visitors because of their unusual colour and wide range of facial expressions. They are really curious about the people who visit them, and often perform in shows with trainers who they develop deep bonds with. Since 1992 it has been forbidden to capture Belugas in Canada because of concerns for the population numbers in the wild, so now most of them come from Russia. They are so popular that each one can cost as much as 100,000 dollars. Whale watching tours are a great way to see them in their natural habitat, but it’s important for the boat not to get too close to them because of the way it can interrupt their daily activities. Quite often they enjoy interacting with the boats so much that they get distracted from things like feeding, social interaction with their own species, and breeding. They get so caught up in the moment, they forget what they’re supposed to be doing!! 8. Whale Shark You might not think a shark with a five-foot-wide mouth and more than 3,000 teeth would be the friendliest of creatures, but whale sharks are the most gentle of all shark species. They pose no threat to humans at all, and are usually pretty welcoming to those who want to swim alongside them. Despite their huge mouth, their throats are only the width of a US quarter, and they only eat tiny micro-organisms. Their average speed through the water is about 3 miles per hour, so they are easy to keep up with, and in a lot of tourist areas they are used to the presence of humans in the water, and don’t really seem to be bothered. Cancun is one of the best places to swim with these giants of the ocean, where you’ll really feel small next to a 65-foot-long and 12 ton fish. There really is nothing quite like being surrounded by a few of them, and the experience draws tourists from all over the world. If you visit “Las Afueras” you’ll even have a chance to be amongst a feeding frenzy of hundreds of them, which is a spectacular feat of nature. 7. Manatees Manatees, or sea cows, are also known as gentle giants, and it’s clear to see why. They are fully aquatic and feed mainly on plant life that they sift from the water. They can grow to up to 13-feet-long, weigh about 1,300 pounds, and push their way through the water with their paddle like limbs.
