The video provides specialist training in subjects appropriate to the duties of senior officers and any person with immediate responsibility for loading, discharging, care in transit or handling of bulk chemical cargoes. Tanker terminal and ship management personnel will build on previous experience and gain a detailed appreciation of the safety aspects involved in the handling and carriage of chemical cargoes. 2 Chemical Tankers Types 1. ‘Type 1’ ship is a chemical tanker intended to transport Chapter 17 of the IBC Code products with very severe environmental and safety hazards which require maximum preventive measures to preclude an escape of such cargo. 2. ‘Type 2’ ship is a chemical tanker intended to transport Chapter 17 of the IBC Code products with appreciably severe environmental and safety hazards which require significant preventive measures to preclude an escape of such cargo. 3. ‘Type 3’ ship is a chemical tanker intended to transport Chapter 17 of the IBC Code products with sufficiently severe environmental and safety hazards which require a moderate degree of containment to increase survival capability in a damaged condition. 8 Cargo heating Deck mounted cargo heaters eliminate the need for in-tank heating coils. The cargo tank interior can be made with flush tank top free from coils, brackets and clamps. A flush tank top facilitates quicker stripping with less cargo remaining in the tank. The cargo tank washing can be performed quicker, with less consumption of washing water and less slop handling. 9 Cargo cooling The Framo cargo cooling system enables chemical carriers to also transport low-boiling-point cargoes and semi-gases. Cargoes such as Propylene Oxide and Isoprene are often transported on board chemical carriers which use cooling system to maintain a safe cargo temperature 10 Cargo circulation To prevent sediments settling on the tank-top during transport and to maintain the liquid quality, a Framo diffusor can be installed on the outlet of the dropline. During voyage cargo is circulated through the diffusor by running the cargo pump at intervals. 11 Submerged ballast pumps Installation of ballast pumps inside the double side ballast tanks in combination with a submerged cargo pump in each cargo tank make the pump room superfluous. This arrangement provides a safer ship design and make more space available for carrying cargo. Submerged ballast pumps have become the standard arrangement in modern tankers and FPSOs. 12 Stainless steel chemical tankers The stainless steel chemical tanker fleet comprises the most sophisticated tankers sailing on the high seas. These ships are constructed with stainless steel cargo tanks, a fully segregated cargo pumping arrangement and designed to carry the most aggressive, corrosive or volatile liquids. #ChemicalTanker #TankerCourse #MarineOnline Don't Forget to Subscribe Us Like Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/MarineOnlineYoutube Follow Twitter: https://twitter.com/MarineOnlineYou Follow Google+ https://plus.google.com/107450234425940445683 Website: https://marineonlineyou.blogspot.com/

What is CHEMICAL TANKER? What does CHEMICAL TANKER mean? CHEMICAL TANKER meaning - CHEMICAL TANKER definition - CHEMICAL TANKER explanation. Source: Wikipedia.org article, adapted under https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/3.0/ license. A chemical tanker is a type of tanker ship designed to transport chemicals in bulk. As defined in MARPOL Annex II, chemical tanker means a ship constructed or adapted for carrying in bulk any liquid product listed in chapter 17 of the International Bulk Chemical Code. As well as industrial chemicals and clean petroleum products, such ships also often carry other types of sensitive cargo which require a high standard of tank cleaning, such as palm oil, vegetable oils, tallow, caustic soda, and methanol. Oceangoing chemical tankers range from 5,000 tonnes deadweight (DWT) to 35,000 DWT in size, which is smaller than the average size of other tanker types due to the specialized nature of their cargo and the size restrictions of the port terminals where they call to load and discharge. Chemical tankers normally have a series of separate cargo tanks which are either coated with specialized coatings such as phenolic epoxy or zinc paint, or made from stainless steel. The coating or cargo tank material determines what types of cargo a particular tank can carry: stainless steel tanks are required for aggressive acid cargoes such as sulfuric and phosphoric acid, while 'easier' cargoes — such as vegetable oil — can be carried in epoxy coated tanks. The coating or tank material also influences how quickly tanks can be cleaned. Typically, ships with stainless steel tanks can carry a wider range of cargoes and can clean more quickly between one cargo and another, which justifies the additional cost of their construction. Chemical tankers often have a system for tank heating in order to maintain the viscosity of certain cargoes, typically by passing pressurized steam through stainless steel 'heating coils' in the cargo tanks, transferring heat into the cargo which circulates in the tank by convection. All modern chemical tankers feature double hull construction and most have one hydraulically driven, submerged cargo pump for each tank with independent piping, which means that each tank can load a separate cargo without any mixing. Consequently, many oceangoing chemical tankers may carry numerous different grades of cargo on the same voyage, often loading and discharging these "parcels" at different ports or terminals. This means that the scheduling, stowage planning and operation of such ships requires a high level of coordination and specialist knowledge, both at sea and on shore. Tank cleaning after discharging cargo is a very important aspect of chemical tanker operations, because tanks which are not properly cleaned of all cargo residue can adversely affect the purity of the next cargo loaded. Before tanks are cleaned, they must be properly ventilated and checked to be free of potentially explosive gases. Chemical tankers usually have transverse stiffeners on deck rather than inside the cargo tanks, in order to make the tank walls smooth and thus easier to clean using permanently fitted tank cleaning machines. Cargo tanks, either empty or filled, are normally protected against explosion by inert gas blankets. Often nitrogen is the inert gas used, supplied either from portable gas bottles or a Nitrogen generator. Most new chemical tankers are built by shipbuilders in Japan, Korea or China, with other builders in Turkey, Italy, Germany and Poland. Japanese shipbuilders now account for the large majority of stainless steel chemical tankers built, as welding stainless steel to the accuracy required for cargo tank construction is a skill which is difficult to acquire. Notable major chemical tanker operators include Stolt-Nielsen, Odfjell, Tokyo Marine and Team Tankers. Charterers, the end users of the ships, include oil majors, industrial consumers and specialist chemical companies.

Tanker Truck Driving Jobs, both as a company driver and as an owner operator, pay very well in the trucking industry. It is a specialized niche in trucking, with a premium mileage pay rate and pay package. One of the best things about tanker driving jobs, is that the company usually pays the driver for everything they do.... the way it should be for ALL TRUCK DRIVING JOBS! Mileage pay, extra pay for high traffic areas, fuel surcharge, extra pay for trips under 500 miles, waiting time pay, loading and unloading hourly pay, layover pay and safety bonus. I've personally hauled gasoline and other petro product tankers as well as chemical tankers. Both of these jobs paid much better than the average truck driving job. However, tanker work does come with some downsides. Driver liability is great. If the driver messes up, personal liability could be an issue. A mistake doing this type of work can be deadly. Working with toxic and caustic chemicals and explosive products is very dangerous. There is no room for careless mistakes. So if you want to make as much money as you're able as a truck driver, learn as much as you can about tanker work in the trucking industry. It may be something that interests you. A DASH CAM IS A NECESSARY TOOL FOR EVERY SINGLE COMMERCIAL TRUCK DRIVER. WE'VE PERSONALLY TESTED THESE DASHCAMS FROM FALCON ELECTRONICS, AND USE THEM ON OUR TRUCK. WELL WORTH THE INVESTMENT. Originally published on December 30, 2013 A 55,000-ton cargo ship on a test run collided with a tanker ship carrying flammable chemicals in the pre-dawn hours of Sunday, sparking a fire that was only contained by mid-morning Monday. The collision occurred in waters around 9.2 nautical miles off the coast of the South Korean shipbuilding center and port of Busan. South Korea rescue personnel were able to rescue all 91 crew members from both vessels and reports say all crew members are alive, with only minor injuries reported. The cargo ship, named the "Gravity Highway" was conducting a test-run when it collided with the "Maritime Maisie" tanker, which was carrying almost 30,000 tons of flammable chemicals, including paraxylene, a highly flammable substance used in the manufacture of polyester and acrylonitrile, which acts as a monomer in the production of plastics. Reports say some 4000 tons of chemicals were lost to the fire, but fortunately, no leaks into the ocean were found. The stricken ship stayed afloat and was later towed back to the port of Busan. South Korean newspapers reported that 16 coast guard boats as well as Navy vessels and helicopters were called to duty to both rescue the crew members and extinguish the flames. There are no indications at present as to why such a collision could occur in the waters just off the South Korean coast and authorities are investigating. -------------------------------------------------------- Welcome to TomoNews, where we animate the most entertaining news on the internets.
