Oracle SQL Tutorial 26 - UTF-8 and UTF-16

05:46
UTF-8 and UTF-16 are different encodings for the Unicode character set. Let's discuss UTF-8 first. UTF-8 is what is known as a variable-length character set. This means that the amount of storage a character takes up depends on what character it is. For example, if we store the character A, it will only take up one byte. In fact, ASCII is a subset of UTF-8. That means UTF-8 encoding can work with ASCII data. If you are new to computer storage, a byte is a very small amount of information. The smallest thing a computer can store is a bit. 1 or 0. On or off. There are 8 bits in a byte, 1024 bytes in a kilobyte, 1024 kilobytes in a megabyte, 1024 megabytes in a gigabyte, and 1024 gigabytes in a terabyte, and 1024 terabytes in a petabyte. Considering it is completely possible for a database to be multiple petabytes, you can understand that a byte is very small. If you store a non-English character, the size of UTF-8 will increase to 2, 3, or 4 bytes. If you think back to when we used the VARCHAR data type, we passed in 50 CHAR. The reason we throw in that CHAR is that the default for Oracle is 50 characters. Now you can understand why adding the CHAR might be important. If a character can take up multiple bytes, you cannot guarantee 50 characters. Now, on to UTF-16. UTF-16 is also a variable length encoding, but it differs in that It is either 2 or 4 bytes. That means to store an A, it now takes two bytes rather than one. Even though a byte is so small, when you are storing billions of characters, an unnecessary byte really adds up to a lot of wasted storage. We can only represent so many characters with 2 bytes. When we run out of options, we move to four bytes to allow for other characters. Which do we use? It often depends on what platform you are on and also what languages you are working with. For example, if you are working with Asian language, UTF-16 stores each character in 2 bytes while UTF-8 stores each character in 3 bytes. So you could save space by using UTF-16. Additionally, UTF-16 works better when you are writing code in Java or something from Microsoft .NET because UTF-16, or a subset of it called UCS-2, is widely adopted. Other than that, UTF-8 will be the one you want. Now that we have built a pretty good foundation of character sets, we can now continue our discussion of data types. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Support me! http://www.patreon.com/calebcurry Subscribe to my newsletter: http://bit.ly/JoinCCNewsletter Donate!: http://bit.ly/DonateCTVM2. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Additional Links~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ More content: http://CalebCurry.com Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/CalebTheVideoMaker Google+: https://plus.google.com/+CalebTheVideoMaker2 Twitter: http://twitter.com/calebCurry Amazing Web Hosting - http://bit.ly/ccbluehost (The best web hosting for a cheap price!)

Video codec in Java, FFmpeg and C language

08:26
My example application written in Java language uses FFmpeg library package (which is in C language) to open video file. After opening video file it reads the video codec used in this file. Next I return this codec name from C code back to Java code. There are 5 steps to do that. 1. Create Java class with native methods 2. Generate header file with JavaH tool 3. Code your Junit test 4. Code C implementation of generated header file 5. Remember about attaching 3rd party libraries, attaching Java Native Interface header files and setting environment variables. Let’s install FFMpeg libraries package. I configure installation to have generated shared library files (I like DLL files). I compile for 64-bit architecture. I can see compiled DLL files. I copy the files to my separated directory. I open the documentation of FFMpeg library and browse the API. If I want to code C application with FFmpeg library, I need the header files of this library. I create Java application. Write the class with native method. Write Junit. I point where the video file is. There is no C implementation of this native method. I create C application (library). Generate header file for the class with native method. I will include this header file into my C application. I switch architecture into 64-bit. I include Java Native Interface header files and FFmpeg header files too. I also include header file I have just generated with JavaH tool. I go to the Linker properties and point where the libraries are. Now I’m able to code implementation of generated header file in C. I code fake implementation and return simple string. I compiled my DLL library file. Now is the time to set environment variables. I update PATH variable and point where the libraries are. Logout and Login to have PATH environment updated. I run tests in Java application and got error because I have to load Library in Java, I do it with System.LoadLibrary method. I run test again and I can see that C code was executed. I code final implementation in C. I convert Java string into C string. I use FFMpeg methods to open video file and I read video codec name. In Java test I can see the video codec name used in my video file. I update my test and it succeeds. I code final releases. That is all. Thank you. In this regular expressions (regex) tutorial, we're going to be learning how to match patterns of text. Regular expressions are extremely useful for matching common patterns of text such as email addresses, phone numbers, URLs, etc. Almost every programming language has a regular expression library, so learning regular expressions with not only help you with finding patterns in your text editors, but also you'll be able to use these programming libraries to search for patterns programmatically as well. Let's get started... IIF function in SQL Server

04:00
iif function in sql server 2012 iif function in sql server example sql server iif function example In this video we will discuss IIF function in SQL Server. IIF function Introduced in SQL Server 2012 Returns one of two the values, depending on whether the Boolean expression evaluates to true or false IIF is a shorthand way for writing a CASE expression Syntax : IIF ( boolean_expression, true_value, false_value ) Example : Returns Male as the boolean expression evaluates to TRUE DECLARE @Gender INT SET @Gender = 1 SELECT IIF( @Gender = 1, 'Male', 'Femlae') AS Gender Example : Using IIF() function with table data. We will use the following Employees table for this example. SQL Script to create Employees table Create table Employees ( Id int primary key identity, Name nvarchar(10), GenderId int ) Go Insert into Employees values ('Mark', 1) Insert into Employees values ('John', 1) Insert into Employees values ('Amy', 2) Insert into Employees values ('Ben', 1) Insert into Employees values ('Sara', 2) Insert into Employees values ('David', 1) Go Write a query to display Gender along with employee Name and GenderId. We can achieve this either by using CASE or IIF. Using CASE statement SELECT Name, GenderId, CASE WHEN GenderId = 1 THEN 'Male' ELSE 'Female' END AS Gender FROM Employees Using IIF function SELECT Name, GenderId, IIF(GenderId = 1, 'Male', 'Female') AS Gender FROM Employees Text version of the video http://csharp-video-tutorials.blogspot.com/2015/10/iif-function-in-sql-server.html Slides http://csharp-video-tutorials.blogspot.com/2015/10/iif-function-in-sql-server_14.html All SQL Server Text Articles http://csharp-video-tutorials.blogspot.com/p/free-sql-server-video-tutorials-for.html All SQL Server Slides http://csharp-video-tutorials.blogspot.com/p/sql-server.html All Dot Net and SQL Server Tutorials in English https://www.youtube.com/user/kudvenkat/playlists?view=1&sort=dd All Dot Net and SQL Server Tutorials in Arabic https://www.youtube.com/c/KudvenkatArabic/playlists

Demonstrating Oracle DB Elapsed Time and Wall Time With Parallel Query

03:37
Is it really true? In my recent postings I wrote that when using parallel query a SQL statement's wall time is roughly equal to its elapsed time divided by the number of parallel query slaves. To check I ran an experiment and posted the results. The results are both obvious and illuminating. If you don't want to read but just sit on the couch and watch a video, you're in luck! I created a special video clip demonstrating what I wrote about. The main video clip is from my OraPub Online Institute video seminar, Tuning Oracle Using An AWR Report - Part 1. Create GS1-128 Compliant Barcodes with the IDAutomation Label Software

02:47
This tutorial explains how to create the MOD10 check character using the Barcode Label Software, which is often required when implementing GS1-128 barcodes for various specifications. To enable IDAutomation barcode products to calculate the MOD 10 when the barcode is created, the ApplyTilde property must be enabled and the format ~m?? must be used where ?? is a 2 digit number representing the number of characters preceding the tilde on which to base the Mod 10 calculation. Download a Demo of IDAutomation's Barcode Label Software: http://www.idautomation.com/barcode-label-software/idautomation/download.html For more information, please visit the Code 128 FAQ for GS1 at: http://www.idautomation.com/barcode-faq/code-128/#Creating_GS1-128

Unicode, UTF 8, JavaScript, and You

I ½ ♥ 💩 See https://coolaj86.com/articles/base64-unicode-utf-8-javascript-and-you/ Points of discussion: * From Unicode to UTF-8 as a string, byte sequence, or base64 * TextEncoder (DOM) * Unibabel (light weight, DOM, ES3) * Buffer (Pure JS) * StringView (Pure JS) * base64-js (PureJS) * Performance - couldn't test with JSPerf due to... wait for it... unicode * Operations must have predictable output * Secure Remote Password * 0xFFFD - unknown character * Unicode vs Encoding * what popped up in my google search * binary example * Naive approach doesn't work * Mozilla's Example gives the wrong byte sequence * ES6 is too fancy and not focusing on solving existing problems * JavaScript vs DOM vs Node

CROP CIRCLE DECODED - David Flynn (The Genesis 6 Connection)

01:36:05
David Flynn approached his research from a point of reference centered on the discernment of the Old and New Testament based on the original Hebrew and Greek. Through this biblical perspective his work was the first on-line to reveal in clear terms the reasons behind the UFO phenomenon, the origins and genesis of ‘illuminated’ fraternities and esoteric mysticism and how ‘Gnosis’ and ‘Theurgy’ was mirrored in ancient mythology. Dave’s research, books and Internet presence has become part of popular culture forever changing the nature of humanity’s perception and understanding of Christianity and the UFO phenomenon. It brought to light what had been until his groundbreaking work, purposely hidden from the common man. Reference: http://watchervault.com/david-flynn-bio/
