Let c how to remove duplicates from a table..I have one table here 'student' It has two duplicate records. 3 joe 4 robert These two records has duplicates. So I have to remove them. I can remove them using rowid functionality using one subquery. You can give different column names in GROUP BY clause. to identify the duplicate record. You can give just primary key values also. Duplicate rows are deleted now... Query used in video: delete from student where rowid not in (select min(rowid) from student group by sno, sname); Thanks for watching...:)

How To Insert, update, delete, join Data into a Table Using SQL Developer tool

02:53
How To Insert, update, delete, join Data into a Table Using SQL Developer tool In this topic, you learn to add objects to the Query Builder interface and then create a query based on those objects. In this section, you create a query based on the EMPLOYEES and DEPARTMENTS tables. You will generate output that shows per department name, the employees who work in that department. Perform the following steps to add the EMPLOYEES table to the Query Builder. 1 . Select the Query Builder tab to open Query Builder window. 2 . Drag and drop the EMPLOYEES table from the Connections navigator to the Query Builder window. 3 . Drag and drop the DEPARTMENTS table object over to the Query Builder window, so that the two table objects are displayed in the Query Builder window. Because there are two relationships defined between the EMPLOYEES and DEPARTMENTS tables, you see two lines between the tables identifying the columns that are linked together through foreign key constraints. The two relationships are defined as: The MANAGER_ID in the DEPARTMENTS table must be a value of the EMPLOYEE_ID in the EMPLOYEES table (managers must exist as employees). The DEPARTMENT_ID in the EMPLOYEES table must be a value of the DEPARTMENT_ID in the DEPARTMENTS table (an employee's department must exist in the DEPARTMENTS table, or be null). 4 . Next, you select the columns that you want to see in the report. In the EMPLOYEES table, check the FIRST_NAME, LAST_NAME, JOB_ID, SALARY, and DEPARTMENT_ID columns. As you select these columns, note that they are added in the order that you select them into the window below the table objects. In the DEPARTMENTS table, check the DEPARTMENT_NAME column. 5 . Click Run .

This tutorial series is part of SQL expert exam certification training. if you are preparing for SQL certification you can use my tutorials. This SQL Tutorial is a part of free training. Copy Cloud referral link || Use this link to join copy cloud and get 20GB of free storage https://copy.com?r=j7eYO7 Contacts E-Mail [email protected] Twitter https://twitter.com/rebellionrider Instagram http://instagram.com/rebellionrider Facebook. https://www.facebook.com/imthebhardwaj Linkedin. http://in.linkedin.com/in/mannbhardwaj/ Thanks for linking, commenting, sharing and watching more of our videos This is Manish from RebellionRider.com Today in this oracle database tutorial we will see How to CREATE A TABLE. if we have to define a table in layman language then we can say that Tables are just a collection of Rows and Columns but In RDBMS tables are database objects which help in organizing data into ROWS and COLUMNS. We can also say that SQL tables are kind of data structure which are used by database for efficient storage of data. To create a table in our database we use SQL CREATE TABLE command. SQL CREATE TABLE is a type of DATA DEFINITION LANGUAGE also known as DDL. To Create a table in your schema you will require CREATE TABLE system privilege. In our future videos we will see what are system and object privileges and how to grant them to a user. Today for this video we will be using Sample schema HR which already has all the necessary privileges. Ohk Let's see the syntax. CREATE TABLE table name ( column name1 Data-Type(size), column name2 Data-Type(size), ..... ); CREATE TABLE is an oracle reserved word or say an Oracle key word whereas There are 3 different ways of creating a table in Oracle database. Creating a table using Command Line Interface (CLI) in Oracle database For demonstrating how to create table in oracle database using CLI, I'll be using Command prompt. Thats how we create table using command prompt. you can check your table structure by DESCRIBE command for that just write DESC and your table name. Like this Another way of creating a table is by using Graphic user interface (GUI) in Oracle database To demonstrate how to create table using GUI we will use SQL developer. Lets open our SQL developer I am connected to HR schema if you do not know how to create a connection to database using SQL developer please watch my oracle database tutorial 4 that explains database connectivity using SQL developer and command prompt. Link for this video is in the description below. So lets create a table. Creating a table using SQL developer is very easy we do not have to fire any query here. Let's start First of all right click on your connection in which you want to create a table and choose schema browser. This will open a separate schema browser pane or you can expend your connection by clicking this + sign and then right click on table and choose New Table. However I prefer working with schema browser so let's skip to schema browser pane here from the first drop-down list you can choose connection name and in the second drop down list you can choose what database objects you want to work with we want to create a table thus I'll choose table and then click this arrow here and choose option for new table Ok we have created a table wizard first of all give a unique name to your table and add some column as well. For this, click the green plus button. Now we already have a column so give it some name. Also choose a datatype from the list and specify any size you can check this not null column if in case you want to make this a mandatory column you can also specify default value and constraint If you want to make this column a primary key you can click here In my future video i'll show you what are these constraints and different ways of applying them on a column in a table. for this video we will concentrate on create table only so when you are done with all your columns click ok Thats your table You can double click on your table here and can see its structure. Thats it

http://www.sqltrainingonline.com Delete Duplicates in SQL Server - SQL Training Online In this video, I show you two different techniques to remove duplicate records in a SQL Server 2012 table. I don't use the SQL distinct operators, but I actually group the data and apply unique row identifiers to make the SQL delete easier. Both of the SQL delete statements involve SQL Server CTE statements and use the Row_Number operator to assist in the process. With the operator, you can identify the duplicate rows You can get the sample script to run the test yourself at http://www.sqltrainingonline.com/how-to-remove-duplicate-rows-in-sql-server/. Difference Between Delete and Truncate

03:41
Below is link for Useful Pl/SQL Books http://goo.gl/XMy0tt ---------------------------------------------------------- Difference Between Delete and Truncate in Detail On bigger picture they serve the same purpose but there are many Differences listed with examples Point Delete Truncate 1. Data Recovery Delete: Come under the DML Category, we need to commit or Rollback explicitly to make the changes permanent, so we can recover the data by Rollback command fully with in a session or up to a point if Save Points are used Fall In DDL Category (DDL Command issue the Auto commit implicitly) so no chances of Recovery even not using the Flashback table method. But Truncate operations are also logged , they didn’t generate redo SQL but they are logged , view for truncated data info V$LOGMNR_CONTENTS 2. Data Removal Delete Can remove all or selected data using the Where Clause predicates. Or we can say delete any subset of rows We can Truncate complete table or a partition or sub partition of a table. 3. Speed Delete is Slower because oracle maintain the redo logs for Read Consistency (so that every session connected can see a consistent data at a given point of time ) Delete is very time consuming activity especially when table have numerous indexes and Triggers associated with table Faster as no data logs are maintained no associated trigger firing. 4. DML Triggers Firing DML (Delete) triggers associated with table will fire. DML Trigger will not fire in case of truncate method. 5. Flashback Technology Data can be recovered even after commit operation using Flashback Table options Flashback_transaction_query table will give what to recover and up to which point. Data cannot be recovered in truncate method by Flashback table option. 6. Referential Integrity Constraint Behavior if we don’t have related data in child table then we can delete the data from the parent table or we have variants like On Delete Cascade & on Delete set Null. We can’t truncate a table with enable Referential Integrity Constraint, even there is no data in the child table, we have to disable or drop the constraint if we want to truncate the table. Exception: Truncate is possible if the FK is self-referential means primary key and foreign key are on the same table. 7. Space De allocation or Space Utilization No extent reset with delete when deleting rows from a table, extents are not de allocated, So if there were 50 extents in the table before the deletion, there will still be 50 after the deletion. Truncate: When a table is truncated it will free the space allocated except in case of reuse storage clause. This space can subsequently be used only by new data in the table or cluster resulting from insert or update operations .All extents are de allocated leaving only the extents specified when the table was originally created .Example So if the table was originally created with min extents 3, there will be 3 extents remaining when the tables is truncated. When you truncate a table, NEXT is automatically reset to the last extent deleted. 8. High Water Mark Delete will not reset the high water mark Truncate will reset the High Water mark which is very important for performance point of view as in case of full table scan and full index scan oracle will read all the block under high water mark this makes a lot of difference in terms of performance. 9. Cluster No as such restriction with delete. You cannot individually truncate a table that is part of a cluster. You must truncate the cluster, Delete all rows from the table, or drop and re-create the table. 10. Information Capturing Delete : we can capture the row information what we have deleted using Delete Method, f you are deleting multiple records then use composite data types (collections & records) Truncate Don’t have this feature of capturing the deleted records. 11. Function Based Index Impact DELETE You cannot delete rows from a table if a function-based index on the table has become invalid. You must first validate the function-based index. Truncate: No as such restriction 12. UNUSABLE Indexes Delete no as such feature. Truncate if table is not empty then truncate make all unusable indexes to useable. 13. Complex views You cannot delete data from a Complex view except through INSTEAD OF triggers. But we can delete data from simple Views and MV. We cannot truncate a view simple or complex but you can truncate MV with special Features like Preserve MV Logs and Purge MV Logs. 14. Privileges Delete You need to provide delete table privilege on object. Truncate you must have drop table privilege there is no truncate table privilege exists. 15. Domain Index No as such restriction You cannot truncate the object having domain index in invalid or In progress state

Part 12 Can we join two tables without primary foreign key relation

10:38
Link for all dot net and sql server video tutorial playlists http://www.youtube.com/user/kudvenkat/playlists Link for slides, code samples and text version of the video http://csharp-video-tutorials.blogspot.com/2014/09/part-12-can-we-join-two-tables-without.html Can we join two tables without primary foreign key relation Yes, we can join two tables without primary foreign key relation as long as the column values involved in the join can be converted to one type. ID column in Departments table is not the primary Key and DepartmentId column in Employees table is not the foreign key. But we can still join these tables using ID column from Departments table and DepartmentId column from Employees table, as both the columns involved in the join have same data type i.e int. Select Employees.Name as EmployeeName, Departments.Name as DepartmentName from Employees join Departments on Departments.ID = Employees.DepartmentId The obious next question is, if primary foreign key relation is not mandatory for 2 tables to be joined then what is the use of these keys? Primary key enforces uniqueness of values over one or more columns. Since ID is not a primary key in Departments table, 2 or more departments may end up having same ID value, which makes it impossible to distinguish between them based on the ID column value. Foreign key enforces referential integrity. Without foreign key constraint on DepartmentId column in Employees table, it is possible to insert a row into Employees table with a value for DepartmentId column that does not exist in Departments table. The following insert statement, successfully inserts a new Employee into Employees table whose DepartmentId is 100. But we don't have a department with ID = 100 in Departments table. This means this employee row is an orphan row, and the referential integrity is lost as result Insert into Employees values (8, 'Mary', 'Female', 80000, 100) If we have had a foreign key constraint on DepartmentId column in Employees table, the following insert statement would have failed with the following error. Msg 547, Level 16, State 0, Line 1 The INSERT statement conflicted with the FOREIGN KEY constraint. The conflict occurred in database "Sample", table "dbo.Departments", column 'ID'.

How to Create and Drop Table in SQL

01:53
Follow this easy step by step easy tutorial to learn how to create and drop table in SQL Server via Query Editor. Don't forget to check out our site http://howtech.tv/ for more free how-to videos! http://youtube.com/ithowtovids - our feed http://www.facebook.com/howtechtv - join us on facebook https://plus.google.com/103440382717658277879 - our group in Google+ In this tutorial we will guide you on creating tables in SQL Server. As we know, the main components in databases are the tables, in which the data actually resides. Tables contain rows and columns, where columns act like the entity identifiers such as employee name, employee salary etc and rows contain the data values for those entities. So in this tutorial we will see how to create tables in SQL Server. Step 1 -- Navigating to the Desired Database Creating tables in SQL server is very easy. It can be done via commands which have to be written in the Query Editor. For that, first of all, let's move to the database where the table has to be created. Expand the Databases folders from top and further expand the required database inside which table has to be created. After that, right click on that Database and open up the Query Editor. Step 2 -- Creating Table In the Query Editor we will write the following queries: create table Inventory ( ID int, Product varchar(50), Quantity int, Price decimal (18,2) ); The query here means that we are interested to create a new table which would be called Inventory. It will have an ID column for the Product Ids and its Data type would be an Integer. It will have a column for Products containing the product names, so its data type would be Varchar. It will also contain a Quantity field with Integer set as its data type And last of all, a column for Price that will accept data as real numbers. Therefore we will declare its type as decimal and set its maximum length as 18 with a precision of 2 decimal places. After that is done, click on the Execute Button on top. A message will appear below the Query Editor that the query has been executed successfully. Step 3 -- Identifying the Table Now for verifying whether the table has been made, just click on the Tables icon and then on the Refresh Icon, located under the Object Explorer. With that done, our newly created Inventory table would appear over there. Click on the Inventory table and expand its columns. The fields would appear to be created exactly like we had mentioned in the query earlier. Step 4 -- Drop Table Now let's move on to how to drop tables in SQL. To delete a table and all of its contents, we use the DROP table command in SQL. Over here, let's drop the table we just made. For that, simply write: drop table Inventory With that done, let's execute the command. Now when we will Refresh the Object Explorer, we can see that the Inventory table has been deleted. And that was how to create table in SQL.

Subqueries in sql Part 59

14:34
In this video we will discuss about subqueries in sql server. Let us understand subqueris with an example. Please create the required tables and insert sample data using the script below. Create Table tblProducts ( [Id] int identity primary key, [Name] nvarchar(50), [Description] nvarchar(250) ) Create Table tblProductSales ( Id int primary key identity, ProductId int foreign key references tblProducts(Id), UnitPrice int, QuantitySold int ) Insert into tblProducts values ('TV', '52 inch black color LCD TV') Insert into tblProducts values ('Laptop', 'Very thin black color acer laptop') Insert into tblProducts values ('Desktop', 'HP high performance desktop') Insert into tblProductSales values(3, 450, 5) Insert into tblProductSales values(2, 250, 7) Insert into tblProductSales values(3, 450, 4) Insert into tblProductSales values(3, 450, 9) Write a query to retrieve products that are not at all sold? This can be very easily achieved using subquery as shown below. Select [Id], [Name], [Description] from tblProducts where Id not in (Select Distinct ProductId from tblProductSales) Most of the times subqueries can be very easily replaced with joins. The above query is rewritten using joins and produces the same results. Select tblProducts.[Id], [Name], [Description] from tblProducts left join tblProductSales on tblProducts.Id = tblProductSales.ProductId where tblProductSales.ProductId IS NULL In this example, we have seen how to use a subquery in the where clause. Let us now discuss about using a sub query in the SELECT clause. Write a query to retrieve the NAME and TOTALQUANTITY sold, using a subquery. Select [Name], (Select SUM(QuantitySold) from tblProductSales where ProductId = tblProducts.Id) as TotalQuantity from tblProducts order by Name Query with an equivalent join that produces the same result. Select [Name], SUM(QuantitySold) as TotalQuantity from tblProducts left join tblProductSales on tblProducts.Id = tblProductSales.ProductId group by [Name] order by Name From these examples, it should be very clear that, a subquery is simply a select statement, that returns a single value and can be nested inside a SELECT, UPDATE, INSERT, or DELETE statement. It is also possible to nest a subquery inside another subquery. According to MSDN, subqueries can be nested upto 32 levels. Subqueries are always encolsed in paranthesis and are also called as inner queries, and the query containing the subquery is called as outer query. The columns from a table that is present only inside a subquery, cannot be used in the SELECT list of the outer query. Next Video: What to choose for performance? in this video i will show you how to use select statement and sql plus commands and many more, join our group for more detail https://www.facebook.com/groups/242999206136244/, The Four main categories of SQL statements are as follows: 1. DML (Data Manipulation Language) 2. DDL (Data Definition Language) 3. DCL (Data Control Language) 4. TCL (Transaction Control Language) -------------------------------------------------------------------------- DML statements include the following: SELECT – select records from a table INSERT – insert new records UPDATE – update/Modify existing records DELETE – delete existing records -------------------------------------------------------------------------- DDL statements are used to alter/modify a database or table structure and schema. These statements handle the design and storage of database objects. CREATE – create a new Table, database, schema ALTER – alter existing table, column description DROP – delete existing objects from database -------------------------------------------------------------------------- DCL statements control the level of access that users have on database objects. GRANT – allows users to read/write on certain database objects REVOKE – keeps users from read/write permission on database objects. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- TCL statements allow you to control and manage transactions to maintain the integrity of data within SQL statements. BEGIN Transaction – opens a transaction COMMIT Transaction – commits a transaction ROLLBACK Transaction – ROLLBACK a transaction in case of any error. ------------- .---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------. video courses- list of playlist : tips and trics link► https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLOfLYVXrwqXrI5jvwUEi6N13QR4xCj2k2 command prompt commands: link►https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLOfLYVXrwqXobXGUdGk6JhzyQ216dNiQL oracle sql: link►https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLOfLYVXrwqXqoUWCoh4cARGDW13SofDO- c programming: link►https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLOfLYVXrwqXrZ_Ub8EXeLY7YP1YxhoJzf .-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------. watch more videos: learn oracle sql online overview tutorail : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dfesgj4w8QA&t=8s how to fix or repair a corrupted usb flash drive or cd card using command prompt: https://www.youtube.com/edit?video_id... how to copy a folder using cmd: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lblhb... how to move a folder using cmd: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YFfHZ... how to dell files in cmd: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3-lqg... how to make and remove directory: https://www.youtube.com/edit?video_id... how to change color and title in cmd: https://www.youtube.com/edit?video_id... how to change directory in command prompt: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SmLYx... .-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------. social media links: join our group: ► https://www.facebook.com/groups/24299... ► Follow on Google+: http://[email protected] ► Follow on Twitter: https://twitter.com/@rananavi4766669 :

Oracle SQL MERGE Statement

07:52
https://www.databasestar.com/oracle-merge-sql/ In this video, we’ll learn what the Oracle MERGE statement does and how you can use it. What is the MERGE statement? It’s a statement that lets you either insert or update data in a table - all in a single statement! It’s helpful if you’re using an ETL (Extract Transform Load) process when creating or updating a data warehouse. It’s also helpful when loading data into your own database if you’re not creating a data warehouse. It allows you to prevent duplicate data and ensure you have up-to-date data in your table. The syntax looks like this: MERGE INTO table_name USING table_name ON (condition) WHEN MATCHED THEN update_clause DELETE where_clause WHEN NOT MATCHED THEN insert_clause [LOG ERRORS log_errors_clause reject_limit integer | unlimited ] In this video, I also show an Oracle SQL MERGE statement example, so watch the video to find out more. For more information on the MERGE statement and how you can use it in your queries, read the related article here: https://www.databasestar.com/oracle-merge-sql/

IN VS EXISTS VS JOIN, performance

05:04
This video demonstrates the performance effects of using an exists clause instead of an IN clause, also it shows how we can update a simple sub query having an IN clause with an EXISTS or JOIN statement. It also shows that joining would consider the null data, where as an IN clause would neglect null values. Sometimes when adding rows to your database need update-if-exists, insert-if-not-exists logic. Aka an upsert. You could write this as separate update and insert statements.
