Oracle Database Indexes: Myths, Tips and Tricks

09:04
In this tutorial, OCM John Watson will - via demonstrations - debunk these myths: Myth #1: Oracle Database does not index NULL Myth #2: A search that includes wildcards can't use an index if the wildcard precedes the string. Myth #3: Oracle will not use a function-based index unless the FBI is coded in the predicate. Myth #4: Indexes always help. The more indexes the better. 8. Use LOG ERRORS to suppress SQL errors at the row level.

06:23
The impact of a non-query DML statement is usually "all or nothing". If my update statement identifies 100 rows to change, then either all 100 rows are changed or none are. And none might be the outcome if, say, an error occurs on just one of the rows (value too large to fit in column, NULL value for non-NULL column, etc.). But if you have a situation in which you would really like to "preserve" as many of those row-level changes as possible, you can add the LOG ERRORS clause to your DML statement. Then, if any row changes raise an error, that information is written to your error log table, and processing continues. IMPORTANT: if you use LOG ERRORS, you must must must check that error log table immediately after the DML statement completes. You should also enhance the default error log table. Oracle DB Vs MySQL for Enterprise DataBase Deployments

08:54
Oracle DB is big, and expensive, but it brings a lot to the "table" when compared with MySQL. MySQL has limited ability to audit. MySQL's security is unsophisticated. There are no groups or roles, no ability to deny a privilege (you can only grant privileges). A user who logs in with the same username and password from different network addresses may be treated as a completely separate user. There is no built-in encryption comparable to Oracle. MySQL's Authentication is built-in. There is no LDAP, Active Directory, or other external authentication capability. MySQL has no MPP (massively parallel processing ) support. Unlike Oracle MySQL has no fractional-second storage type for times, dates, or intervals. There is no RAC (Real Application Cluster) support in My SQL, and no failover or server promotion either. These are strong features in Oracle MySQL's number of joins per query is limited to 61. Oracle's limit is much larger. MySQL Replication is asynchronous and has many limitations and edge cases. For example, it is single-threaded, so a powerful slave can find it hard to replicate fast enough to keep up with a less powerful master.

Oracle tutorial : Global Temporary Table In Oracle PL SQL create temp table sql This video will explain to you how to create Temporary Tables in Oracle Oracle tutorial : Global Temporary Table In Oracle 1)The data in such a table is stored only as long as the session or transaction lasts and is private for each session. 2)The definition is visible to all sessions. 3)After commit or disconnection, the data is lost but the definition of the table remains. 4)Indexes created on a temporary. 5)Scope of TRUNCATE command is a single database session. There is no effect of TRUNCATE on other sessions. 6)Foreign key constraints are not applicable in case of Temporary tables 7)Temporary tables cannot contain column of persistent collection type Syntax : CREATE GLOBAL TEMPORARY TABLE table_name ( column_name column_data_type … … ) ON COMMIT DELETE ROWS; CREATE GLOBAL TEMPORARY TABLE Emp ( id number(5) NOT NULL, name varchar2(50) NOT NULL, city varchar2(50) NOT NULL ) ON COMMIT DELETE ROWS INSERT INTO Emp VALUES (1, ‘Test1’, ‘city1’); INSERT INTO Emp VALUES (2, ‘Test2’, ‘city2’); INSERT INTO Emp VALUES (3, ‘Test3’, ‘city3’); SELECT COUNT(*) FROM emp; Result = 3 rows COMMIT; SELECT COUNT(*) FROM emp; Result = 0 rows For more tutorial please visit #techquerypond https://techquerypond.com https://techquerypond.wordpress.com https://twitter.com/techquerypond

If you've arrived on this episode by Googling in, please make sure to look at all of the content on the TV channel rather than taking this episode as a standalone topic. This episode: Application logs can provide a critical insight into why an application failed. Yet there is an argument that you can over-log, or even fail to put logs in your application in the first place. In this episode of the ADF Architecture TV channel Chris Muir investigates the design or "art of logging", as well as key parts in the ADF framework where it makes sense to add ADF logs. Oracle Apex 5: Create workspace on Oracle Apex 5.1

10:02
Create workspace on Oracle Apex 5.1: ============================== Oracle Application Express is Oracle's primary tool for developing Web applications with SQL and PL/SQL. Using only a web browser, you can develop and deploy professional Web-based applications for desktops and mobile devices. Create Workspace First, you need to log in the administration system of Oracle APEX in order to declare a Workspace. A Workspace will work with a SCHEME in database. Workspace contains Applications including a system of forms, reports, and so on, managing users who participate in programming, or users who use the application. • Open your internet browser, then write following URL in address bar for log in http://localhost:8080/apex/apex_admin • After log in, You need to create new Workspace: Click on create workspace • Enter: Workspace Name: my_ws Then click Next. • You can select a SCHEMA available in Database. Here I create a new SCHEMA named my_ws with password my_ws, and Re-use existing schema? No, then click on Next. • In the previous step, you created a SCHEMA named my_ws. It means 1 user database is created and named my_ws. • In this step, you need to declare a administration User of Workspace. It is not a user database, but it is a administration user of this Workspace. It is capable of creating applications, other Users as programmers, or users who use the application... Enter: User Name: my_ws_admin Password: my_ws_admin Email: [email protected] Then click Next. And then confirm your request by clicking Create Workspace, Finally click on Done. Note: Your Workspace has been created. You can see the list of current Workspace and edit if you want. • To find your workspace: Click on Manage Workspaces, Find Workspace Work with Workspace • In the above step, you created a Workspace named my_ws. Now we will log in and work with this Workspace: Open your internet browser, and then write following URL in address bar for log in http://localhost:8080/apex Enter: Workspace: my_ws User Name: my_ws_admin Password: my_ws_admin Then click Next. • In the first time of logging in Workspace, the system requires you to change your password, but you can keep your password intact • You are logged in my_ws Workspace Follow me: https://www.facebook.com/leens.tech https://www.facebook.com/munir.du https://twitter.com/munir_du https://www.linkedin.com/in/md-munir-hussain Contact me: [email protected] Download Oracle Database 11g R2 from: http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/database/enterprise-edition/downloads/112010-win32soft-098987.html Download Oracle Apex 5 from: http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/developer-tools/apex/downloads/index.html

PRM-DUL untruncate Oracle Tables ,recover truncated oracle table data

02:41
Why DUL? Doesn’t need the database or the instance to be open Does not use recovery, archive logs etc… It doesn’t care about data consistency more tolerant to data corruptions Does not require the SYTEM tablespace to recover DUL is a utility that can unload data from “badly damaged” databases. DUL will scan a database file, recognize table header blocks, access extent information, and read all rows Creates a SQL*Loader or Export formatted output matching SQL*Loader control file is also generated If data files are not available for the SYSTEM TableSpace the unload can still continue but USER, TABLE and COLUM names will not be known. Identifying the tables can be an overwhelming task. But it can be (and has been) done. You need in depth knowledge about your application and the application tables. Column types can be guessed by DUL, but table and column names are lost. Any old SYSTEM tablespace from the same database but weeks old can be of great help!. Most of the information that DUL uses does not change. (only the dataobj# is during truncate or index rebuild)
