An original Celtic / Irish folk song by Scarlett Parade hailing from Dublin, Ireland and the Isle of Man (located in the Irish sea) we're a Irish / Manx band. Music and lyrics by Scarlett Parade.
This song is inspired in parts by George R R Martin's 'Game of Thrones' series and Robert Jordan's fantasy epic 'The Wheel of Time', recently we've become obsessed with the former of these. The story behind this song involves the main character lamenting the loss of his true love whom he sacrificed for his own glory.
We are a duo (Geoffrey Tinkler: vocals and Piano & Adam Jones Guitar and backing vocals) from Dublin, Ireland and the Isle of Man based in London composing original music.
Son sit down,
And I will tell you a story,
About the young man I was,
So desperate for glory
A proud and vain fool,
But I was the envy of men,
Because the woman I loved,
Loved the heart of me then.
Stole away, to hide in the stars,
All that I knew,
I'll never say
They called me a hero,
The great, the righteous one,
But son I've spent the rest of my life wishing to,
Undo all that I've done
Oh the White river glows,
With the light of the moon,
As they turned her to stone,
Oh the white river burns,
With the light of the moon,
As the starlight returns
Son she sang,
To the heart of man,
Although many have tried,
They were my ships at sea,
That touched down on their shore,
And I would destroy them again,
Those who called it her fate, but the truth of it is,
I gave her to them

Hailing from the Isle of Man, UK, Scarlett Parade is a driven, passionate and charismatic band with a unique approach to their blend of folk and alternative music.
The pairing of Geoffrey Tinkler (vocals & piano) and Adam Jones (lead guitar) make up a successful songwriting partnership, giving life to haunting soundscapes with a cinematic, yet introspective feel. Their sound falls somewhere in between the textures of Sigur Ròs and the forward-thinking attitude of song-writers such as Arcade Fire with hints of Damien Rice.
It's all about the warmth of the acoustic guitars, the spaciousness and mellow vibe of piano chords; not to mention the subtle yet effective rhythm section and the heartfelt vocal performances.
