The unit runs on two AA batteries that can be alkaline or rechargeable AA NiMH or lithium batteries. The older model used 3 AA's, so this is a major improvement in size and efficiency.
This new model is small when compared to other bluetooth keyboard products for mac or pc. There are smaller ones, but for those that want full-sized keys, this is as small as it gets. These pair easily with Mac OSX devices as well as iOS devices. If you're searching for the perfect wireless keyboard for Mac devices, this is it. When used with a Apple wireless mouse or the Bluetooth trackpad, you'll have a clean computing table top for ease, convenience, style and efficiency.
The use of this Apple keyboard couldn't be any simpler. Just press the button, then go to your bluetooth menu to pair. Once that is done for the first time, the pairing is in the memory and you'll be able to use it anytime and not have to do the process again. The power management system is advanced and goes to sleep and automatically powers down when not in use, then comes on when you start typing. This means longer battery life.
The first Mac bluetooth keyboard had the larger conventional keys and got dirty easily and was large. The pairing was clunky at times and the battery life could've been better. The best wireless keyboard models whether mini or full-sized will allow you to type just as fast as with a wired keyboard while freeing you to type from anywhere nearby your computer and even control your computer from the couch if you're using it as a media server. Many that have gone down the Apple iPad route and iOS devices that miss their keyboard and do not like typing with the onboard virtual keyboard can easily add one of these to increase productivity. There are even cases that can make carrying and using the iPad tablet and the keyboard together an easy process.
There are many wireless keyboard options on the market these days, but for Mac users, there are only a few choices that make sense. If you're an OSX or iOS person, and need a mini bluetooth keyboard, consider the aluminum Apple wireless keyboard here for an easy bluetooth typing device that just works.
