English Books that Will Help You Reach a High Level of English Fast!

03:49
English books that will help you reach a high levle of English - https://www.tofluency.com/5-step-plan/ ← Click here to download your free guide. One of the most common question I get asked is... "What books will help me reach a high level of English?" In this new video, I talk about the types of books you should be reading and why. Watch in HD! ----------- TRANSCRIPT Hello, this is Jack from tofluency.com and in this video we're going to talk about books, and more specifically, what books are going to help you reach a high level of English, so keep watching! As an English learner, there are so many books that you can buy and read to help you with your English. Now firstly, there are the type of books that are specifically made for English learners. This is, for example, grammar books, course books, text books and books have been adapted for your specific level. And then, obviously, they're also books that haven't been made, specifically, for English learners; books on a whole range of topics: fiction and also non-fiction. Now, I receive a lot of questions from English learners, and one of the main questions I receive: is: What books should I buy to help me on my journey to English fluency? Now, I can not recommend a specific book in this general sense because a book that's going to be good for you and that's going to help you on your journey might not be suitable for someone else. This is because we all have different interests and also we have different levels of English. The key is finding a book that you can understand; a book that isn't too difficult for you and your level right now and also finding a book that is going to really interest you; a book that you just can't put down. Now, as you progress with your English and if you are an immediate learner now, I recommend that you find more native materials.Find books at have not been written specifically for English learners; find books that are native - books that have just been written in different genres. And remember: Choose a book that is going to interest; find books on topics that you find interesting. This might be novels, non-fiction like history, sports or politics or maybe magazines and blogs. Additionally, if you can find the audio for the book, as well, then I really recommend that you do this. If you find books that come along with the audio it means you can listen and read at the same time, you can read a book and then listen later. Or maybe you just listen to the book. But having the audio is really gonna help you improve your English. One last tip: the mentality of choosing books is really important, and what I recommend, like I've said throughout this video, is that you find books that you want to read. Don't read books that you feel you have to read instead, read the books that you think, "Yes, I really want to read this book and I know I'm going to enjoy it." And if you don't enjoy the book don't feel like you have to read it - put it down and choose a different book instead. Here is a question for you: I want you to leave your answer below this video: What is your favorite book that you have read in English? What is your favorite book that you have read in English? Leave your answers below.. thanks for watching, and I'll see you next time! ----- Please share this video if you found it useful. Thanks. Its manuscript was first written between 1796 and 1797, and was initially called First Impressions, but was never published under that title. Following revisions it was published on 28 January 1813 by the same Mr. Egerton of the Military Library, Whitehall, who had brought out Sense and Sensibility. Like both its predecessor and Northanger Abbey, it was written at Steventon Rectory. Explore the first two or three lines and infer the poet’s purpose from this. 2. Find some imagery (SOAPAIMS) that seems significant to you, and interpret what it suggests. Link this back to the poet’s purpose. 3. Return to the title and see how this fits with what you have interpreted about the poet’s purpose. 4. Look at the form or structure of the poem, and show how this helps you interpret the poet’s purpose (don’t write anything about what it looks like visually on the page – that might be gibberish) 5. Look at the ending of the poem, where the poet’s purpose will have changed slightly. Interpret what this change is. Chinese, English, Spanish: Writing a Third Literature of the Americas

02:20:40
Chinese, English, Spanish: Writing a Third Literature of the Americas A Trilingual Program Since 30 years ago when writers such as Kingston, Huang, and Chin first made American readers aware of Chinese American literature, exciting new developments have taken place. Readers and scholars alike have discovered that "Chinese American literature" can no longer be limited to works written in English alone. Due to a number of factors including globalization, the rise of China, ethnic studies, and new critical scholarship, we are finding that the 21st century signals a "third literature of the Americas"---novels, stories, and poems written in English, Chinese, and Spanish. These new developments have resulted in a special volume of Amerasia Journal published by the UCLA Asian American Studies Center entitled "Towards a Third Literature: Chinese Writing in the Americas" edited by Russell C. Leong (CUNY Thomas Tam Visiting Professor at AAARI); Evelyn Hu-DeHart (Professor of History and Ethnic Studies at Brown University); and Wang Ning (Professor of English and Comparative Literature at Tsinghua University, Beijing). This trilingual program consists of an exciting panel discussion and a reading of selected works in English, Chinese, and Spanish by some of the editors and contributors to this special volume of Amerasia Journal (available at a special booksigning price during the program). - Panel: "From Chinese American to a Third American Literature" Prof. Evelyn Hu-Dehart will provide a keynote overview of how and why Asians entered the literary scene of Central and Latin America. Prof. Dehart will introduce Prof. Kathleen López, a Latin American expert who will provide commentary. (Talk in English and Spanish.) Prof. Kathleen López is Assistant Professor in the Department of Latino and Hispanic Caribbean Studies (LHCS) and the Department of History at Rutgers University. Her book, Chinese Cubans: A Transnational History, is forthcoming from the University of North Carolina Press (2013). Her research and teaching focus on the historical intersections between Asia and Latin America and the Caribbean, post-emancipation Caribbean societies, race and ethnicity in the Americas, and international migration. Prof. Russell Leong will introduce the special volume of Amerasia Journal. (Talk in English) Dr. Maan Lin, Associate Professor of Chinese and Spanish and Coordinator of the Chinese Program at Queensborough Community College, will talk about translating Kam Wen Siu's "La primera espada del imperio." (Talk in Chinese and Spanish.) Dr. Yibing Huang, Professor of Modern Chinese Literature at Connecticut College and past contributor to Amerasia Journal, will talk about Simon Ortiz in China, and bringing ethnic and minority writers for cross-literary exchanges in China. (Talk in Chinese and English.) Dr. Wen Jin, Assistant Professor of English and Comparative Literature at Columbia University, will talk about the future of racial and minority literary contacts from two nations. (Talk in Chinese and English.)
