Learn how to use emotional branding to tap their most powerful beliefs. Marketing to men is the advertising industry's forte -- or so we think. Marketing has long been about advertising to men, but long-gone are the days when marketing to men was as easy as showing a hot chick using the product. Since then, emotional marketing and emotional branding have taught us many things about advertising to men and marketing to men, and here's some tips for making your advertising to men more effective using emotional marketing. Old-School Advertising to Men When it comes to advertising to men, the ad industry thinks it has it all figured out. Marketing to men is as simple as appealing to their macho side, right? Wrong. Emotional branding has taught us that marketing to men may very well be that simple sometimes, but often times when advertising to men one has to use more advanced emotional marketing tactics to endear their product to men. There are many advertising copywriters who wish they could go back to an era before we knew about emotional branding and marketing to men was a simple process. The thing is, that sort of elementary thinking just won't work when advertising to men anymore. We now need to really figure out what emotional marketing approaches work for every individual market to really make great marketing to men. How Marketing to Men Has Changed As I said before, marketing to men has changed immensely over the years. Just putting a hot chick up on a motorcycle using your product doesn't cut it anymore when advertising to men. The key here is to really dig deep down and figure out what men really want to feel about themselves. This is where emotional marketing and emotional branding really come in. Marketing to men should be approached just like any other emotional branding problem -- forget about your own desires and agenda and figure out what the customer really wants and desires. Emotional Branding to Men When building a brand that targets men, the first thing you must do is figure out how you are going to do your advertising to men. This involves figuring out what they want, what they love, and what they hate. These emotions are what make them individuals, and they're how emotional marketing can build fanatical bonds with customers when advertising to men. Most companies don't understand this and end up making subpar marketing to men. By using the emotional branding approach to your marketing to men, you have the potential to make truly ascendant marketing. Emotional Marketing to Specific Men Over the years we have been researching marketing to men and advertising to men, we have found some very interesting things about these demographics. For example, if you want to make advertising to men in their 50's, what emotional marketing tricks would you use? If you said "scare them senseless," you would be right. Marketing to men in their 50's is best done by frightening them, because they feel so responsible for their families. How about marketing to African-American men in their 20/30's? You would use the emotional branding trick of shaming them into buying your product. Peer-pressure is very strong with this group, and that can be used to really make your brand more than just a product when marketing to men in this category. As you can see, emotional branding can be used in just about every situation where you are marketing to men, so get out there and figure out what makes your customers tick! So let's recap the emotional marketing tricks we went over today • Advertising to men used to be easy -- you just had to put a hot chick on a Harley and have her use the product and your marketing to men was done. Unfortunately, advertising has come a long way since then and emotional marketing is the new norm. • Marketing to men can be accomplished by using emotional branding tricks learned by listening to your customers, not your company agenda. Learn to discard your agenda and listen to what makes your customers tick when making your marketing to men. • Emotional branding can be used to hone in on the exact feelings and desires of any group of people, you just have to listen and really throw your weight behind the emotional marketing.

If you are Latina, it is very likely you have heard your mom, abuela or tia (grandma or aunt) say those words; and, it is very likely you will also say it to your daughter too! This is a dynamic commonly known by many beauty companies that are already capitalizing on this insight by reaching Latinas as a prime market for growth. But, what about Latinos? What if the same insight of cultural and personal pride translates to men? Latino men are very proud of who they are and how they carry themselves. Latinos are more likely to agree that "I enjoy using grooming products that make me feel attractive to the opposite sex" (116 Index vs. non-Latinos); and more likely to agree that "It's important to use grooming products to maintain my appearance in the work place" (119 Index vs. non-Latinos; according to a Univision/Experian Simmons, Male Grooming Study. And this insight- combined with size and spending- make Latinos a perfect marketing trifecta in the category. Latino men represent one out of every five men in the U.S. between 18- 49, and when you dive deeper into the desirable millennial market, they already represent almost one-quarter of all at 21%, according to the U.S. Census and Scarborough Research. But market size compounds with astounding index and usage data. Latino men are 33% more likely than men on average to use hair spray. They are also 72% more likely to use hair styling creams, gels or lotions, and more than one in five (22%) used a hair styling product at least once a day over the previous seven days. And the behavior replicates with after share and cologne usage. Latino men are 41% more likely than men on average to have used after shave and cologne 14 or more times within the past seven days, according to The Latino HBC Shopper Study. Obviously, more usage translates into more spending, reporting Latino monthly spending on personal care products at 28% higher than non-Latinos. And to maximize this insight and leveraging its Latino ambassador Nacho Figueras, Ralph Lauren has released a new high-octane men's scent; POLO RED as described last week on an article by WWD. Packed with speedboats, Lamborghini sportscars and shots of face of the brand, Argentine polo player Nacho Figueras, it's a statement of intent for Ralph Lauren, which is hunting "confident young thrill seekers," as Alexandre Choueiri, general manager of international designer collections at L'Oréal Luxe, told WWD. With the support of cross-cultural marketing firm XL Alliance; Ralph Lauren Fragrances is demonstrating its commitment to the market with bilingual print, TV, digital and experiential campaigns targeting Latinos. Their efforts, in tandem with the launch of POLO RED, make them one of the pioneers in the luxury category to capitalize on this fast-growing segment. It is projected that Latino spending on personal care products and services will grow from $8.2 billion in 2011 to $10.3 billion in 2016, representing cumulative growth of 25.2% during the forecast period. From 2000- 2009 Latino spending grew 41% while spending by non-Latino consumer units on personal care products and services grew by only 15%; according to The Latino HBC Shopper Study. When we think of the largest demographics out there, sex is among the most dominant. Split down the middle, we as advertisers have great opportunity to market to men or women individually. Today I'm going to talk about how marketing to men can be done effectively with emotional marketing. Advertising to Men When advertising to men, or any other demographic, it's important to first decide what it is that makes that group tick. Do they like to feel cool? Dangerous? Sexy? Freaky? The list goes on, but when marketing to men, you have to really hone in on the core values. This is particularly important when marketing to men because men are such a diverse and massive segment of the population. Marketing to men relies on broad, universal values that most men hold. What is the best emotional driver to use when advertising to men? Revenge, ingenuity, and a little bit of dominance sprinkled in. When advertising to men, these two feelings are some of the strongest you can use to really appeal to them. So let's take a look at these two feelings individually. Advertising to Men Using Revenge When marketing to men, it's important to understand that most men feel very controlled and pushed-around by their wives and girlfriends. So the best ads for advertising to men always open with a man being harried by his wife. They show all of the frustration and anguish that being browbeaten causes, and then they move into the payback phase. When marketing to men, the best advertisers always show a man getting the one-up on his wife or girlfriend, but does so while demonstrating the cool features of the product. Advertising to Men Using Ingenuity While advertising to men using revenge is a great tactic, another which is used just as much is advertising to men using ingenuity -- in fact, the two go hand-in-hand very often. The key to marketing to men using ingenuity is that you have to show men outsmarting their wives or girlfriends. The intelligence is important, but the main focus when you're marketing to men using ingenuity is to show the use of that superior intelligence to establish dominance over their wife or girlfriend. This ingenuity is most often shown a man using his superior intelligence to trick or deceive their wife or girlfriend. Marketing to Men Using Dominance While not a core emotion on its own in this case, marketing to men using dominance is a very important part of both advertising to men using revenge and advertising to men using ingenuity. In fact, every one of these tools for marketing to men could be rolled into each other for one feeling. The important aspect here is that whether he is deceiving his wife or girlfriend or simply getting sweet revenge, the result is always that the man is establishing dominance over his wife or girlfriend. So let's do a quick recap When advertising to men, it's best to market to them using revenge or ingenuity When advertising to men using revenge, show the man being brow-beaten by his wife or girlfriend, and then show the sweet, sweet revenge he wreaks upon them later When advertising to men using ingenuity, make sure your man tricks or deceives his wife or girlfriend using his superior intellect When marketing to men, always make sure that dominance is a core component, regardless of the particular technique used.

Nothing has been left to coincidence: the choice of colors, the wrapping materials – which in the final stages of production are prepared one by one – and finally the wraps, designed in collaboration with choice Italian companies known for their quality. The products and fragrances of the original recipe as unique as the herbal conditioner, shampoo with egg and rum, aftershave with apricot hull and soap with sweet almond oil cream: they all become a real sensorial experience. Six lines of shampoos for different types of bulbs, a lotion for massaging the skin, a soothing after- shave, an ultra softening balm, the soap and travel soap. These were the first products launched on the market, the beginning of continued research aimed at making the product line larger and able to cater to the needs of the beard and the hair of the final consumer.
