How to Create a Custom Disbursement Validation Set - Payment Level in Oracle EBS R12? - Part I

04:55
For companies using Oracle E-Business Suite R12.1 or above and paying their suppliers in multiple currencies from a multi-currency bank account it was a challenge to set up a validation rule at payment batch run to exclude any payments under a specific amount using standard functionality. As an example, company X has to avoid sending to bank any payments equal or less then equivalent of 20 USD. As I mentioned above payments may be issued in different currency so is not possible to use standard validation rule due to its limit to one single currency. For full post go to http://oracle-ebs-hands-on.blogspot.com/2014/07/how-to-create-custom-disbursement.html For other interesting tips http://oracle-ebs-hands-on.blogspot.com

How to enable idle_time parameter for user profiles on Oracle

03:01
Typically, malicious users target the inactive sessions to gain access into the database. By reducing the period of time an inactive session stays connected, the probability of that session being a victim of abuse is reduced. Also, setting up idle_time helps to reduce problems of having too many INACTIVE sessions.

ORACLE DBA Startup Stages

02:33
The Startup 'nomount' Stage When you issue the startup command, the first thing the database will do is enter the nomount stage. During the nomount stage, Oracle first opens and reads the initialization parameter file 'init.ora' to see how the database is configured. For example, the sizes of all of the memory areas in Oracle are defined within the parameter file. After the parameter file is accessed, the memory areas associated with the database instance are allocated. Also, during the nomount stage, the Oracle background processes are started. Together, we call these processes and the associated allocated memory the Oracle instance. Once the instance has started successfully, the database is considered to be in the nomount stage. If you issue the startup command, then Oracle will automatically move onto the next stage of the startup, the mount stage. Starting the Oracle Instance 'Nomount Stage' There are some types of Oracle recovery operations that require the database to be in nomount stage. When this is the case, you need to issue a special startup command: startup nomount, as seen in this example: startup nomount The Mount Stage When the startup command enters the mount stage, it opens and reads the control file. The control file is a binary file that tracks important database information, such as the location of the database datafiles. In the mount stage, Oracle determines the location of the datafiles, but does not yet open them. Once the datafile locations have been identified, the database is ready to be opened. Mounting the Database Some forms of recovery require that the database be opened in mount stage. To put the database in mount stage, use the startup mount command as seen here: startup mount If you have already started the database instance with the startup nomount command, you might change it from the nomount to mount startup stage using the alter database command: alter database mount; The Open Oracle startup Stage The last startup step for an Oracle database is the open stage. When Oracle opens the database, it accesses all of the datafiles associated with the database. Once it has accessed the database datafiles, Oracle makes sure that all of the database datafiles are consistent. Opening the Oracle Database To open the database, you can just use the startup command as seen in this example startup If the database is mounted, you can open it with the alter database open command as seen in this example: alter database open;

Oracle Database Memory Serialization Control (latches & mutexes)

14:14
Oracle Database Memory Serialization Control (latches & mutexes) teaches Oracle DBAs the ends and outs about Oracle memory structure control. Oracle effectively creates the illusion of simultaneous memory structure manipulation. And it's our job to ensure this illusion remains a mystery to our users. To help you keep this illusion real, in this seminar I will lead you into the mysterious world of Oracle memory structure serialization control by exploring latches and mutexes: what they are, how they work, how we monitor their performance, how we tell if there is a significant problem and how we systematically diagnose the situation. I think you will soon understand why I think Oracle serialization control rocks! For details go to http://www.orapub.com/video-seminar-serialization-control PART ONE of this seminar focuses on why latches and mutexes are so important to Oracle's operations and how Oracle uses latches and mutexes in its kernel code. I also dig into how Oracle's time model relates to latching. This enables you to properly diagnosis and communicate to others why or why not latches/mutexes are a significant performance issue. Finally, I get into how Oracle increases concurrency by effectively using multiple latches of the same type to increase memory structure concurrency. It's fascinating and very important for DBAs who want to pursue a career focused on Oracle performance tuning. PART TWO begins by focusing on advanced latch spin control and detailing three ways to identify the problem latch. Then I'll begin digging deep into mutexes, including why they are important, why Oracle began using them and the acquisition algorithm. I'll even get into advanced mutex control using Oracle instance parameters. We will observe Oracle using mutexes by operating system tracing Oracle processes. It's pretty cool and key for any DBA who wants to become a performance expert. What You Will Learn In Part 1 & 2 - Why Oracle processes must ensure serial access control to Oracle memory structures - What are Oracle latches and mutexes - How Oracle latches are different from mutexes - The latch and mutex acquisition algorithms - How L&M activity relates to Oracle's time model - How to monitor for real L&M problems using Oracle's time model and an AWR report - Steps to methodically approach diagnosing and coming up with performance solutions - The differences between latches and mutexes - How Oracle implement mutexes in its library cache - How to use advanced latch spin control - What options DBAs have to influence mutex behavior L&M = Latches And Mutexes Modules Part 1: 060 Oracle Serialization Control - Part 1 1. Why the simultaneous memory structure illusion must exist and why it works so well 2 Oracle processes, L&M and memory structures, the general L&M acquisition algorithm 3 L&M time accounting and how this relates to the Oracle time model and the AWR report 4. Oracle latch specifics: concurrency limitations, child latches, multiple latches and how latches "back off." Part 2: 062 Oracle Serializatoin Control - Part 2 1. Using latch specific spin count control to your advantage and three ways to identify the problem latch 2. Why mutexes are advantageous to increase concurrency 3. Detailing the Oracle mutex algorithm 4. Advanced mutex control and observering Oracle mutex usage in detail For more information to go www.orapub.com

How to create Database manually. Asuming that Oracle Software has been installed properly. check other videos if you haven't. Check the oracle contents and Oracle SID, other parameters in the bash_Profile. Step 1 of this video Pre-requisites are completed. Step 2:Go to the dbs directory. copy the file initSID.ora Modify the directories and names accordingly as shown in the video. Save the file Step 3: Create all the new directories using mkdir -p command. Verify the directory structure. Step 4: We need to create the database. Make sure there aren't any oracle processes. Careful that there are no oracle processes. Start the database in nomount state. Check the contents of the script. Prepare one script as such with your names and directories. Keeping higher values temporarily for speedy installation process. Control file reuse is a good option which helps in rerunning the scripts. Execute this file with @createdb. Sit back and db to be created. DB got created in 1min. Step 5: Creating internal views and giving privileges. Check and create other script with the information provided. Contents are not as customized to earlier one. You can simply copy and execute this. Once all these scripts are completed. You can check the objects and do basic checking for the health of the Database. Enjoy the installation series. Subscribe to this channel to get more and more better videos. How to Set Environment Variables in Windows

01:27
Follow this step by step tutorial to learn how to set environment variables from system settings in the windows operating system. Don't forget to check out our site http://howtech.tv/ for more free how-to videos! http://youtube.com/ithowtovids - our feed http://www.facebook.com/howtechtv - join us on facebook https://plus.google.com/103440382717658277879 - our group in Google+ In this tutorial, you will learn how to set environment variables in windows. Operating systems require environment variables as settings and configurations for several processes. Although these variables are automatically defined or initialized during the installation of the system or specific software, in windows, to set environment variables manually is not a difficult task. That's because windows allows us to manually add, remove or edit environment variables through system settings according to our requirements. Step # 1 -- Opening environment variables In windows, to set environmental variables, you can take two paths. Either we can go to control panel, then access the system security option, and then the system option. Or we can simply right click on My Computer and select its properties. Once we are in the system window, select the advanced system settings from the list on the left side. A new window will pop up. Over here, click on the environment variables button near the bottom of this window and you can now access the Windows environment variables. Step # 2 -- Adding a variable In this window there are two sets of environment variables, one is the "user variables", and the other is the "system variables". Choose the new button in the user variables section to open the "define a new variable" dialog window. Over here, you will be required to define the variable name as anything you wish to set, such as temporary and then define its value as the path to the directory. With that done, let's complete this process by pressing OK. Your new environment variable has been created now. Step # 3 -- Editing and removing a variable To edit an environment variable, click on it, and then click on the edit button to open a dialog window. Here we can edit the name and value of the variable. Likewise to remove an environment variable, simply click on the variable and then click on the delete button. Once all the definitions are complete, close the window and restart your computer to allow the operating system to load these settings on boot. And that's basically all you need to know for how to set environment variables in windows.

Oracle Enterprise Manager: Metric Extensions

19:49
ic extensions provide you with the ability to extend Oracle's monitoring capabilities to monitor conditions specific to your IT environment. This provides you with a comprehensive view of your environment. Furthermore, metric extensions allow you to simplify your IT organization's operational processes by leveraging Enterprise Manager as the single central monitoring tool for your entire datacenter instead of relying on other monitoring tools to provide this supplementary monitoring. See Enterprise manager online documentation for more information: http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E73210_01/EMADM/GUID-4FCB90EC-5335-4F92-BFA7-CB1442000353.htm#EMADM10032 ================================= To improve the video quality, click the gear icon and set the Quality to 1080p/720p HD. Oracle R12 : Create Accounting and Transfer to GL Programs Part 1

00:50
Overview of Create Accounting and Transfer Journal Entries to GL Programs The Create Accounting program processes eligible accounting events to create subledger journal entries. The Transfer Journal Entries to GL program enables you to transfer any eligible journal entries to General Ledger, including those from previous batch runs that have not yet been transferred to General Ledger. If you already created accounting in Final Mode but have not transferred them over to GL, and you run the Create Accounting program with Transfer to GL option, then the application does not pick up events that are already created in the final mode. You run the Transfer Journal Entries to General Ledger program to do that. ====================================================== blog : http://oraclebsr12.blogspot.com/ Youtube : https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCZC4VedDhNbBSgzvevOXLfA Watch ALL the Videos about Oracle Apps https://youtu.be/thOf1GutEVA https://youtu.be/81sl0q7NqFc https://youtu.be/iHCWau7PFFY https://youtu.be/cOJB8BCkiGI https://youtu.be/7U5aPehuUL4 https://youtu.be/xNnZ-b3UgfU https://youtu.be/Op05la3bKkk https://youtu.be/ygfTlCxdBmg https://youtu.be/2L-umms5agQ https://youtu.be/Gxilp5s2Ku0 https://youtu.be/_RLo7AtKUL4 https://youtu.be/Zr-h12gSbaw https://youtu.be/YnCPOfgV5hA https://youtu.be/esBFk3BtG0I https://youtu.be/amzwRLV-5dA ======================================================
