Sticky Header Anchor & WP Admin Bar Bug Fixes

While working on my portfolio I noticed a couple of issues that come up when using a sticky header aka a fixed header. One of them has to do with anchor links causing the content to go behind the header, and the other problem is that the Wordpress admin bar overlaps the header, or there is too much space when logged out of Wordpress. I will show you how I solved these issues on my website. WordPress 3.1 Admin Bar Plugin

01:02
With this Plugin you can easily show/hide the new WordPress 3.1 admin bar. A lot of users don't really like this new feature and seek a way to turn it off. This can be done globally via the WordPress configuration file, or on a per user basis in the WordPress admin. However, this Plugin allows you to minimise the the admin bar, and show it whenever you wish by clicking on a small tab at the top left of the screen. This means you no longer have to seek a way to turn it off, it is unobtrusive but there if you need it!

How to Add Front End Login Page and Widgets in WordPress

07:41
Do you want to add a front-end login feature to your WordPress site? Sending users to the login page will normally redirect them to the WordPress admin area which is not always ideal. In this video, we will show you how to add a front-end login page in WordPress. Text version of this tutorial: http://www.wpbeginner.com/plugins/how-to-add-front-end-login-page-and-widgets-in-wordpress/ If you liked this video, then please Like and consider subscribing to our channel for more WordPress videos. Once activated, it will automatically crate pages for login, logout, forget password, and registration. You can use these pages or you can visit the theme's options to configure the settings. You are able to use the plugin's default login stylesheet to style your login as well as whether username, email, or either is used for logging in. It allows you to send custom emails from WordPress for when your users receive emails from your WordPress site. There are also redirect options for when users login how you would like to redirect them. Once logged in you can set it so users have custom links to traverse your site in the login widget while logged in. There are security options for your login in terms of private logins, if you want your site to be private, and the allowed number of login attempts.
Remove Editor WordPress Menu Option Under The Appearance Menu - WordPress Security | WP Learning Lab

Grab Your Free 17-Point WordPress Pre-Launch PDF Checklist: http://vid.io/xqRL Download our exclusive 10-Point WP Hardening Checklist: http://bit.ly/10point-wordpress-hardening-checklist Remove Editor WordPress Menu Option Under The Appearance Menu - WordPress Security | WP Learning Lab function remove_edit_menu() { remove_action('admin_menu', '_add_themes_utility_last', 101); } add_action('_admin_menu', 'remove_edit_menu', 1); In this tutorial I'm going to show you how to remove the Editor menu item from under the Appearance menu in your WordPress admin area. Why is this important? For two reasons. First, if a hacker successfully brute force attacks your website then they can edit theme files inside your admin area in order to insert malicious code. However, if they can't find the theme editor then they can't make those edits. Please note that this isn't the best protection against brute force attacks and a hacker can work around this edit if they're savvy enough. Please see these videos for better brute force protection: - Block specific IPs: https://youtu.be/CWOP7BKEw7s - Limit WP-Admin access by IP: https://youtu.be/QAeGZMkdWHI - Move the WordPress login page: https://youtu.be/_c4l6Vnr9aQ Second, if you're creating a website for a client who likes to poke around in the admin area and play with things then there's a chance they will break the site through the editor. To prevent that from happening we hide the editor so they can't find it. It is actually very easy to make this happen. All you have to do is copy and paste the piece of code from above into the main functions.php for the theme. Save the file and you're done. Ideally, you would be using a child theme so that when the main theme is updated it won't overwrite the code. Let's get this code into your functions.php file. First, log into your hosting account, find the File Manager option and open the root of the website you want to work in. You can also do this via FTP if you prefer FTP. Once the website root loads, open the "wp-content" folder. Then open the "themes" folder. Then find the functions.php file. Into the top of the functions.php file paste the code from the top of this description. And you're done.
