Test Marketing

02:18
Test marketing means launching your product on a small scale and in a limited area that's representative of your market. It gives you a chance to evaluate consumer response, do they like the product or not and would they buy it or not. It also means you can monitor the marketing strategy and adjust it to make sure you attract the highest number of customers possible.

What is CONCEPT TESTING? What does CONCEPT TESTING mean? CONCEPT TESTING meaning & explanation

09:04
What is CONCEPT TESTING? What does CONCEPT TESTING mean? CONCEPT TESTING meaning - CONCEPT TESTING definition - CONCEPT TESTING explanation. SUBSCRIBE to our Google Earth flights channel - https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC6UuCPh7GrXznZi0Hz2YQnQ Source: Wikipedia.org article, adapted under https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/3.0/ license. Concept testing (to be distinguished from pre-test markets and test markets which may be used at a later stage of product development research) is the process of using surveys (and sometimes qualitative methods) to evaluate consumer acceptance of a new product idea prior to the introduction of a product to the market. It is important not to confuse concept testing with advertising testing, brand testing and packaging testing; as is sometimes done. Concept testing focuses on the basic product idea, without the embellishments and puffery inherent in advertising. It is important that the instruments (questionnaires) to test the product have a high quality themselves. Otherwise, results from data gathered surveys may be biased by measurement error. That makes the design of the testing procedure more complex. Empirical tests provide insight into the quality of the questionnaire. This can be done by: conducting cognitive interviewing. By asking a faction of potential-respondents about their interpretation of the questions and use of the questionnaire, a researcher can verify the viability of the cognitive interviewing. carrying out a small pretest of the questionnaire, using a small subset of target respondents. Results can inform a researcher of errors such as missing questions, or logical and procedural errors. estimating the measurement quality of the questions. This can be done for instance using test-retest, quasi-simplex, or mutlitrait-multimethod models. predicting the measurement quality of the question. This can be done using the software Survey Quality Predictor (SQP). Concept testing in the new product development (NPD) process is the concept generation stage. The concept generation stage of concept testing can take on many forms. Sometimes concepts are generated incidentally, as the result of technological advances. At other times concept generation is deliberate: examples include brain-storming sessions, problem detection surveys and qualitative research. While qualitative research can provide insights into the range of reactions consumers may have, it cannot provide an indication of the likely success of the new concept; this is better left to quantitative concept-test surveys. In the early stages of concept testing, a large field of alternative concepts might exist, requiring concept-screening surveys. Concept-screening surveys provide a quick means to narrow the field of options; however they provide little depth of insight and cannot be compared to a normative database due to interactions between concepts. For greater insight and to reach decisions on whether or not pursue further product development, monadic concept-testing surveys must be conducted. Frequently concept testing surveys are described as either monadic, sequential monadic or comparative. The terms mainly refer to how the concepts are displayed: 1.) Monadic. The concept is evaluated in isolation. 2.) Sequential monadic. Multiple concepts are evaluated in sequence (often randomized order). 3.) Comparative. Concepts are shown next to each other. 4.) Proto-monadic. Concepts are first shown in sequence, and then next to each other. "Monadic testing is the recommended method for most concept testing. Interaction effects and biases are avoided. Results from one test can be compared to results from previous monadic tests. A normative database can be constructed." However, each has its specific uses and it depends on the research objectives. The decision as to which method to use is best left to experience research professionals to decide, as there are numerous implications in terms of how the results are interpreted.....

Biggest mistake in product development is not testing for scale

02:25
At Silicon Valley Code Camp, David Spark chatted with Scott Mauvais of the Microsoft Technology Center, a huge lab that tests applications for risk mitigation. For example, say your program is just used for small mom and pop operations, yet you just got an order for an enterprise-level roll out. Can your application handle the new load? Will it crush under the new untested pressure? Mauvais said this is the most common problem he sees that many don't consider. You need to test for scale.

Before diving in. let's establish some ground rules for a "proper" MVP It's got to be Minimal It's got to be Viable And it's got to be a Prod... Actually No, it does not need to be a Product. (I'll be showing you a great example of a "non-product" in a minute or two.) Some have argued that the word "Product" in MVP is unhelpful. Steven Cohn has made a strong case for the word "Experiment". I agree. But for now let's stick with the "P" and temporarily re-define it to.... Pre-meditated. Meaning that the MVP must be a deliberate attempt to learn about the market. This rules out cases that look like MVPs in retrospect, but were really full products that - to everyone's surprise - developed into something big. Let's get going. No. 3 - Buffer ------ Buffer is a application that makes it easy to share content on social media. Here's what they put on the their site. A test, certainly. But it falls short of an MVP in my opinion. Their next test was better. They slotted this page in-between the other two pages. Now visitors to the website are not just saying "This is interesting" They're saying "I want to BUY this". Okay, there's nowhere to input your credit card details. But anyone who got this far was at least prepared to think about parting with their money. As co-founder Joel Gascoigne said: "After this result, I didn’t hesitate to start building the first minimal version of the real, functioning product." Minimal - certainly Viable - yes Pre-mediated - check Buffer's current valuation is something close to $400 million No. 2 - Dropbox ---- Dropbox, as I'm sure you know, is a file synchronisation service. Edit a file on your desktop... ... and seconds later its updated on all of your other devices. Rewind to the early days. The team - entirely composed of techies - had the basic synchronisation working. That was the easy bit. The hard bit was going to be to achieve the same trick on pretty well every platform: Mac, Windows, iPhone, etc. Given that the team was all techies, you'd have put money on them diving straight in. But CEO Drew Houston did something surprising. He made a video. The video - just three minutes long - demonstrated the synch process end to end. But it was more than just a demo: it was full of techie in-jokes... designed to appeal to early adopters. It worked like a charm In Drew's words: “It drove hundreds of thousands of people to the website. Our beta waiting list went from 5,000 people to 75,000 people literally overnight. It totally blew us away.” Minimal - Yes Viable - Not a product that could be used, but a product that could be demonstrated. Pre-Meditated - Yes Dropbox went on to do quite well. It's current value stands between $5 and $10 BILLION. No. 1 - Zappos ---- It's 1999. Co-founder Nick Swinmurn wanted to build an online store for shoes. But would people use it Here's how he went about finding out. He popped down to lis local shoe shops he went into the shops and... ... I sh!t you not... he PHOTOGRAPHED PAIRS OF SHOES! The photos were uploaded to a super-simple website. If someone clicked on the button to buy a pair Nick would pop down to the store and... BUY THE SHOES! Zero infrastructure. Zero inventory. Minimal - definitely Viable - This time it's not even up for discussion. Most definitely: real customers; real money changing hands; real shoes! Pre-meditated Check. Zappos went on to do quite well: it was acquired by Amazon in 2009 for a cool $1.2 billion. Your thoughts, please! ---- Buffer, Dropbox and Zappos. Three of my favourite MVPs. What do you think of my choices Any you disagree with Let me know in the comments. And I'd also like to he https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xPJoq_QVsY4 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cjCCS3DxZRo

Cosmetics Software (PLM cosmétique) : Speed Up New Product Development with a PLM for Personal Care

02:45
Discover how Lascom's cosmetic product development software (cosmetics PLM or in french PLM cosmétique) helps cosmetic businesses to ease product development from idea generation to product launch including formulation, compliance, testing, labeling and packaging design. 00:21 : Essential steps in new cosmetic product development 00:52 : Formulation and packaging 01:40 : Quality and compliance PLM cosmetic video / Video PLM cosmétique : Script Can you see this wonderful product, right in the middle? That’s Bobby. Bobby’s traveled a long road to reach this point. But he’d never have gotten here on time without the help of Lascom’s Product Lifecycle Management Software. Simply called PLM, it’s a solution that offers a 360 product view, optimizing every step in a new product development. At first, Bobby was just an idea that the marketing team had. Their challenge was to innovate in a fast-evolving market. They defined product brief and made them accessible to everyone. Then, thanks to Lascom PLM, marketing team was able to choose among hundreds of ideas in line with consumers’ needs and market trends. Once Bobby was selected, it was time for two crucial stages: formulation and packaging. PLM helped the R&D team to respect marketing’s requirements and claims. Information and documents about raw materials were centralized and made accessible. The formulation tool made creating prototypes and calculating costs easier. At the same time, the packaging team was looking for the right package and PLM helped them to select the best suppliers through a dedicated supplier portal. Designing packaging artwork had never been easier, thanks to the integrated tool shared with the creative agency. Using the software, the quality team managed, tracked, and stored all documents with ease. Documents were then shared with laboratories for complimentary testing. As soon as Bobby was created, regulatory affairs had to ensure its compliance based on an automated calculation and regulatory surveillance expertise. Once everything was checked, was Bobby ready to be produced? Was he consistent with each market, consumer safe, and will he provide customers what they need? Is the product labeling compliant with regulations in force? YES ! With Lascom PLM, each stakeholder was able to complete assigned tasks on time, thanks to automated workflows and team collaboration. Bobby is real now. It’s time to see him on the shelf. Thanks to the PLM, Bobby’s product development was organized and structured. Consumers love him. He’s perfect. The team is already working on a new project to develop a full range of Bobbies using Lascom PLM. How to Test a Market - Startup Tip for Small Businesses

01:51
Learn how to test a market through the clever placements of advertisements for products that have not yet been developed or manufactured. In the $100 Startup, Chris gives an example of a guy who did just this. He placed an advertisement for a sports car information product and received 2 orders by the end of the ad run. He effectively tested his market and made a profit of $1500, however he had no product to give them. He spent the next month creating this product and gave it to them for some happy customers. Leave a comment below of stuff you'd like me to review and concepts or ideas you would love for me to put my own spin on and animate into an easily digestible format. New smartphone product testing: funny focus groups

04:39
This video is an edited highlights version of focus groups at the "Product Testing Institute" for Sony Ericsson's new Xperia 10 smartphone (Android OS). There are 5 groups comprised of cute toddlers, clueless old guys, wannabe rockers, airhead models, self-absorbed muscle men...and a deadpan moderator. They are all actors, of course, and the videos are part of a clever viral campaign supporting the device's launch. This is a good example of tech-based alternative marketing strategies, as well as illustrative of what can actually happen in focus groups (though most group sizes are normally 8-12 people). Enjoy! Here's Sony Ericcson's YouTube channel where you can see the full versions: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-q2QR_S3YK8

Simplify Your IoT Antenna Testing and Accelerate Your Product Development

01:15:25
In the IoT world, time to market is essential and developing a new product has enough hurdles as such. It is important to know how to test and optimize the antenna's performance. Antenna experts Olivier Robin and Gregory Makar from PulseLARSEN Antennas cover this information in the webinar recording. They also review the new IoTest™ kit PulseLARSEN has developed (powered by Copper Mountain Technologies) to explain how to accelerate the process of embedding antennas in your product, to evaluate your antenna performance, to compare to existing Pulse antennas, and to consult experienced antenna professionals if any further assistance is required.
